Dave Barr played 685 NHL games and later served as an assistant coach in the National Hockey League for twelve years. Now the 60-year-old succeeds Dave Cameron as head coach of the spusu Vienna Capitals. Barr, however, not only has a lot of experience at the professional level, but also the skills to develop young players and introduce them to senior hockey. Prior to his NHL coaching career, he successfully served as general manager and head coach of the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), one of the top three junior leagues in the world. In the process, he even brought home the award for best head coach in the OHL in 2006. Last spring, Barr led Canada's U18 national team to its first gold medal in eight years.

"No matter what club, whether it's head coach or assistant coach, my approach is always the same. I try to make my players better, to inspire them as a team to achieve a great goal. No matter if rookie or experienced player. No matter if they are 17 or 41 years old. Every player can always learn something. That is also my goal. I really enjoy developing players," says the Canadian, who is looking forward to the upcoming task: "We will play hard, no opponent will have it easy against us. My team will always tickle everything out of itself and hopefully make all the fans proud. Because we represent Austria's capital. No matter if we win or lose. I want every fan to say after the game: The Caps gave everything, fought hard and delivered a great game."
