The showdown for the final in the Alps Hockey League starts with the decisive duel between HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The Slovenians extended the series with a 3-2 road win after overtime. The two teams already played a deciding game against each other in the 2016-17 premiere season. At that time, Asiago prevailed 4:2 and advanced to the final. Jesenice also lost in 2019 (vs. HC Pustertal) in a deciding game. This time, the Slovenians will compete on home ice and still have a chance to reach their first final - so far, they failed in the semifinals each season. The Italians are playing for their third final appearance. Their record in do-or-die games is even (1:1). Two of the previous four semifinal games were decided in overtime, both won by Jesenice. The duel of the two top scorers of these teams in the postseason also promises to be exciting: Alex Frei on the side of the Italians holds with eight goals and scored in each of his last five games. Zan Jezovsek has six goals, but has failed to score in his last three games.

„best-of-5“ series: 2:2
With a 2-1 home win on Thursday, EHC Lustenau posted a second win against season dominator HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana - and extended the semifinal series for a showdown at the Tivoli Ljubljana. Only once in league history has a team managed to overcome a two-win deficit: The "Dragons" wrestled their way to the title after a 1:3 series deficit in the 2019 finals and thus also know how to win a deciding game. However, the "Löwen" also already won a "do-or-die" game in the Alps Hockey League (2019 quarterfinals against Red Bull Hockey Juniors). The Vorarlberg side has recently convinced: for the first time, they were able to inflict two defeats in a row on regular season winner. Goalie Anthony Morrone also showed a brilliant performance in game two after his comeback, stopping 40 shots on goal (97.6%). The "Dragons" are now under pressure at home - but want to reach the final of the Alps Hockey League for the second time in a row.
