The Alps Hockey League enters the decisive stage of the Intermediate Round. In the Master Round, league leader Rittner BuamSkyAlps can take a big step towards the overall victory in the Master Round with a win at the EK Die Zeller Eisbären on Saturday. In Qualification Round A, the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and SIJ Acroni Jesenice have the chance to get much closer to the Pre-Playoffs, while in QRB, the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel can almost clinch a Pre-Playoff spot. The first match of the Master Round on Saturday will be the game between the Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the EC Bregenzerwald. The Juniors suffered two defeats against league leader Ritten during the week and are in third place in the Master Round with ten points. Bregenzerwald beat Sterzing at home on Wednesday and are sixth in the table with eight points. In the first leg of the Master Round, the Juniors celebrated a 4:2 away win at Bregenzerwald. The home team always had the upper hand in the Regular Season. With Roberts Lipsbergs, Bregenzerwald currently has the third-best point scorer in the league in its squad. The Latvian has scored at least one point in 32 of 37 games this season. The 29-year-old has a total of 26 goals and 39 assists.

League leader Rittner Buam SkyAlps currently has a six-point lead over their closest rivals Cortina with three games left to play. On Saturday, the South Tyroleans, who have won six games in a row across all competitions and only failed to score points against Cortina in the Master Round, will play at fifth-placed EK Die Zeller Eisbären. Zell am See suffered a clear 0:5 defeat in Cortina on Thursday, one of three defeats for the team from Pinzgau in the last five Alps Hockey League games. With ten points, the Polar Bears are already nine points behind Ritten and therefore only have a theoretical chances of finishing the Master Round in first place. So far this season, Ritten has prevailed in two out of three season duels. The first leg of the Master Round was a clear 6:1 win for the league leader.

On Sunday the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and S.G. Cortina Hafro will face each other. Sterzing is currently not in good form, with four defeats in a row, while Cortina has won its last two games. These included a 3:0 home win against Vipiteno this Monday. Just two days later, on Wednesday, the Broncos suffered another at Bregenzerwald. Again the failed to score a goal in the 0:2 loss. With ten points, the South Tyroleans are in fourth place in the table. Cortina has thirteen points and is second in the table. In the other two AHL season duels, both teams prevailed once each. In addition, Sterzing and Cortina faced each other in the semi-finals of the IHL Serie A, which Cortina won 2:0.

SIJ Acroni Jesenice conceded a clear 1:5 defeat in Val Gardena on Thursday and thus slipped back to second place in Qualification Round A. The South Tyroleans climbed to first place, but only have one point more than the defending champion. On Saturday, Jesenice will face HK RST Pellet Celje in an intra-Slovenian duel. The league newcomer did not play on Thursday. With eight points, Celje is already five points behind Jesenice with only two games left to play and therefore needs a win on Saturday to keep its chances of making the Pre-Playoffs alive. In the AHL season duels so far, Jesenice have won all of them, but once only after shootout. JES goalie Zan Us has saved 89.9% of all shots on his goal so far. The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it clearly won against Jesenice 5:1 on Thursday and thus took the lead in Qualification Round A. The Steel Wings LINZ AG also celebrated a surprisingly clear 7:2 away win in Merano. Mikael Saha scored five goals. The Finn has scored a total of 20 goals this season. With a seven-point deficit and only two games left to play, the team at the bottom of the table no longer has a chance of reaching the Pre-Playoffs. While Gherdeina has won all of their last three games, this was Linz's first win after three consecutive defeats. In the win against Jesenice, league top goal scorer Anthony DeLuca (GHE) remained without a point for the first time in 14 games. The 29-year-old already has 43 goals this season and a total of 60 points.

In Qualification Round B, the EHC Lustenau suffered a very narrow 4:5 defeat at Unterland on Thursday, which means that the third-placed team in the table is now four points behind the team from Neumarkt, but with one more game to play than the South Tyroleans. As fourth in the table, the EC-KAC Future Team no longer has a chance of reaching the Pre-Playoffs. On Thursday, the Klagenfurt team clearly lost at home to leader Kitzbühel 1:6, but the Carinthians were able to win their first duel in QRB against Lustenau 3:1. Lustenau were victorious twice in the Regular Season.

In the second game of QRB, leader EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel face bottom of the table SHC Fassa Falcons. While the Italians can no longer reach the Pre-Playoffs, the Eagles are well on their way to finishing the group in first place. The Tyroleans currently have a six-point lead over third-placed Lustenau. However, the team from Vorarlberg have played one game less than the KEC. On Thursday, Kitzbühel clearly won 6:1 in Klagenfurt. KEC top scorer Joonas Niemelä had a five-point game (3G | 2A). The Finn has a total of 49 points (21G | 28A). Fassa had no game on Thursday. Before that, they suffered two defeats in a row.
