Three defeats it set on Saturday in the preseason for teams of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Both the EC Red Bull Salzburg - 3:4 against IFK Helsinki (FIN), the Dornbirn Bulldogs - 0:5 against the Straubing Tigers (GER), as well as Hydro Fehérvár AV19 - 3:4 OT against Grenoble (FRA) had to accept defeats. The match of the Moser Medical Graz 99ers against the Stavanger Oilers had to be stopped after the first third due to a hole in the ice.

Abandonment at Graz 99ers against Stavanger Oilers
The last test match of the Moser Medical Graz 99ers against the Stavanger Oilers (NOR) had already been stopped after one period, due to a large hole near the goalkeeper. Without captain Oliver Setzinger and Travis Oleksuk, both were spared, the 99ers were leading from the beginning. The first goal was scored by Dominik Grafenthin in the 11th minute. Only a few seconds later Sebastian Collberg increased to 2:0. Another three minutes later, the 99ers could increase the score in a power play. Kevin Moderer dropped the Oilers' goalkeeper and shoved the puck backhand into the net. In the 20th minute, Stavanger also scored. After a misunderstanding in the defensive of the 99ers, Greg Mauldin hit the empty goal. For the Styrians the preseason is over. The winner of the regular season of the past Erste Bank Eishockey Liga-season starts his season on Friday, 30th August against Frölunda Indians (SWE) in the Champions Hockey League.

Second defeat for Salzburg at Red Bulls Salute
After the defeat against the Malmö Redhawks (SWE) on Friday afternoon, EC Red Bull Salzburg lost against IFK Helsinki (FIN) 3:4 in the match for bronze at the Red Bulls Salute in Kitzbühel today. In a racy game, both teams delivered a game on equal terms. In the 9th minute Helsinki took the lead thanks to a goal from Aleksi Laakso. The Bulls reacted and equalized in the 16th minute in the power play. But still in the same minute, the Finns took back the lead in a counterattack and took the 2: 1 in the first break.
In the second period, Salzburg's Mario Huber scored two goals and brought Salzburg the lead. IFK equalized the game in the 38th minute.
In the final period, Helsinki were able to score the decisive goal in the second minute. Although Salzburg tried everything in the period to get back into the game, the defensive of Helsinki was stable till the end oft he game. The EC Red Bull Salzburg finished the Red Bulls Salute in fourth place.

No chance for Dornbirn against Straubing Tigers
The Dornbirn Bulldogs lost against the Straubing Tigers 0:5. In every period the Germans were too strong and scored a minimum of one goal. Next competitor for Dornbirn at the Mercedes-Benz Rent Cup will be Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers.

Overtime defeat for Fehérvár
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 lost the preseason game against Grenoble (FRA) 3:4. The Hungarians took the lead in the first and second period, but in each they had to accept the equalizer. In the final period, the French took the lead for the first time. Already in the first minute they scored the 3:2. However, Fehérvár managed to equalize only 3 minutes later. With this score, it went into over time, in which Grenoble scored the decisive goal.
