Asiago Hockey celebrated its first win of the season against Hydro Fehérvár AV19 on Friday. The win2day ICE Hockey League leaders had more of the play for long stretches, but after two goalless periods the hosts took a 2-0 lead thanks to a powerplay double. With just five minutes remaining, the Hungarians also scored twice in quick succession and the game went into over time. Matt Cairns made sure of the decision with his second goal of the evening. With the point, Fehérvár at least extended their lead over the KAC to four points.

Second-placed Klagenfurt were clearly beaten in Salzburg. The champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League, who were heavily short-handed, got off to a perfect start and led 3-0 after the first period. After conceding the third goal in the 14th minute, KAC goalie Dahm was replaced by backup Vorauer. In the third period, Mario Huber - who this time acted as captain for the home side - scored his second goal to put the game beyond doubt. In the end, the Red Bulls won 5:0 in the sold-out Salzburg Ice Arena and celebrated their first win of the season over Klagenfurt. It was goalie Atte Tolvanen's second shutout of the current campaign. Third-placed Salzburg are now just one point behind the KAC - with two games less to play.

Another duel between top 6 teams went to the Moser Medical Graz99ers, who came out on top 5:4 at HCB Südtirol Alperia. The Styrians led 2:0 after seven-and-a-half minutes and even extended their lead. Tim Harnisch made it 4:0 early in the middle period, but Bolzano refused to give in and - thanks in part to a DiGiacinto brace in the space of 16 seconds - pulled back to 3:4 and then 4:5. In the end, the visitors saved the result over time and celebrated their first win in Bolzano for more than four years.

The Steinbach Black Wings, on the other hand, suffered a bitter defeat at the Pioneers Vorarlberg in the race for the top six. Despite numerous chances of their own, the team from Linz had to chase a 2-0 deficit and missed the turnaround. Roni Allen (25') and David Keefer (45') scored for the home side. Graham Knott made things tense again eight minutes before the end, but the Pioneers claimed their second win in a row and reduced the gap to tenth-placed Vienna to four points.

The spusu Vienna Capitals lost 3:6 at EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. Although the visitors took the lead in the first period, the Carinthians - the second-best home team in the league - turned the game in their favor with five goals in the middle period. Villach took advantage of some defensive mistakes by Vienna, with Nikita Scherbak and Maximilian Rebernig both scoring twice. VSV (currently seventh) are now just one point off sixth-placed Linz.

HC Pustertal also won 5:2 at HC TIWAG Innsbruck. Raphael Andergassen laid the foundation for the away win with the opening goal in the first period. The fans saw five of the seven goals in the final period, including a brace from Jason Akeson. The South Tyroleans thus also defended their 10-point lead over the eleventh-placed Pioneers.
