In the derby between SIJ Acroni Jesenice and HK RST Pellet Celje, the third-placed team (JES) will face the eighth-placed team (HKC). The two teams are separated by eight points. Celje celebrated a surprisingly clear 6:2 home win in the first duel of the season. They also beat Jesenice in the preseason (4:3). However, the 2023 AHL champions are currently in good form. They have won seven of their last ten games. Celje recently beat Cortina 4:2 at home, but before that they suffered three consecutive defeats. Austrian goalkeeper Jakob Brandner is no longer in the Celje squad. The Slovenians announced the termination of his contract on Monday. The 23-year-old played a total of 45 Alps Hockey League games for Celje.

A derby is also on the program in South Tyrol on Thursday. HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will host the Rittner Buam SkyAlps. It is already the second derby of the week for the “Buam”. On Tuesday, they narrowly won 5:4/OT against the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers. It was the fourth win in a row for the fourth-placed team, who currently have the longest winning streak of any team. Tenth-placed Gherdeina ended a five-game losing streak last Saturday with a 4:3 away win in Celje. The “Furie” have been waiting four games for a win against Ritten. In the first duel of the season, Ritten won 3:1 at home.

League leaders EK Die Zeller Eisbären will play at last year's finalists S.G. Cortina Hafro. The Italians are currently only in sixth place in the table and are already ten points behind Zell am See. The “Polar Bears” have won their last three games and have only been beaten in two of their last twelve encounters. Cortina have won three of their last five games.
