There will be a couple of derbies in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday. In the only Austrian duel, VEU Feldkirch will play at EC Bregenzerwald. In South Tyrol, the HC Pustertal meet Val Gardena for the first time this season, and the Rittner Buam will host Sterzing. After a two-week break, Fassa also returns to action with a home match against Asiago. All four games can be seen in the livestream.
Due to medical precautionary measures regarding Covid-19, the next EC-KAC II games had to be postponed. The home game against EHC Lustenau, originally scheduled for tomorrow, will be made up on Saturday, 2nd of January 2021. As a result, the road trip of Lustenau, who would have played HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana this Sunday, has also been postponed. The match at the Tivoli will be made up on 3rd January 2021.

For the third time this season, the derby between Bregenzerwald and Feldkirch will take place on Saturday. During the Return2Play phase, both teams scored clear home victories against their local rivals, with points only going to VEU due to their better goal difference. While the guests fro Feldkirch had to admit defeat to Lustenau in the home derby on Tuesday, ECB is on a winning run: Juurikkala's team won their last four games and are only one point behind VEU in eighth place. New arrival Roberts Lipsbergs has hit the ground running, recording 14 points in six AHL games. Jakob Stukel is making a big splash for VEU, with 15 goals and 13 assists in 12 games.
VEU Feldkirch announced the signing of defenceman Laurin Müller, who comes from the Steel Wings Linz. Last season, the 22-year-old played 40 games for Bregenzerwald. In addition, experienced Daniel Fekete (38) returns to Feldkirch.

After a two-week break, Fassa is back in action. At the end of November, the Falcons won their last two games and worked their way up to twelfth place. Their opponents for the comeback are Asiago, who celebrated a 5:1 home victory over Cortina only yesterday.
After three wins in a row recently, the 2018 champions will now be looking to pick up points against Fassa after the Return2Play points went to the Falcons. With Steven McParland and Daniel Mantenuto Asiago has two players in the top ten of the league's scoring charts.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan have been waiting for a win since 31st of October, leaving the ice as losers in their last six games. On Saturday, the team from Sterzing will travel to Klobenstein, where they celebrated a 5:2 away win in October and thus secured the points of the two Return2Play games. As 13th in the table, the Broncos (with two games more) are two points ahead of the Rittner Buam. They recently returned to winning ways with a success in Val Gardena. While MacGregor Sharp and captain Dan Tudin are the top scorers for the Rittners with five goals each, Matthias Mantinger has already scored ten times for the Broncos.
Goalkeeper Roland Fink has informed the Rittner club management that he cannot continue his career for the time being for professional reasons. The Buam have therefore responded by signing Luke Cavallin, a 19-year-old British-Canadian dual national, on loan from the OHL as a backup goalie.

For the first time this season, Pustertal and Val Gardena will face each other on Saturday. With three wins in a row, the "Wolves" climbed to second place in the table. HCP is even still unbeaten at home this season, with the team from Bruneck conceding only nine goals in six games. While Gardena stumbled especially at home (losing the last five home games), they showed good performances on the road. The "Fury" gained at least one point in the last three away games and even won the last duel in Pustertal over a year ago (3:2 - it was the only victory against HCP in the Alps Hockey League so far). With Brad McGowan (27 points) and Matt Wilkins (24), they also currently have the second and third best scorers in the league.
