Tuesday is already the third Carinthian derby within a few weeks in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. The first two duels of the season were clear affairs for the Klagenfurt team. The 4-0 shutout win in mid-December was followed by the 9-1 victory, the highest derby win since 1988, in which Nick Petersen scored five goals. EC Grand Immo VSV has not won against the KAC in five meetings this season. Villach's last win was a 6-3 series equalizer in last season's quarterfinals. While Klagenfurt will play their first game of the new year on Tuesday, Villach celebrated a 6:3 victory over Graz99ers to start the year. Since the derby loss on December 26, the Eagles have won all their games. Petri Matikainen will have to do without Nick Petersen, Thomas Koch, Dennis Sticha and Johannes Bischofberger due to injury on Tuesday. Steven Strong will serve the first half of his two-game suspension in Tuesday's derby.

In addition to the Kärntner derby, the third Tyrolean derby between HC TIWAG Innsbruck and HCB Südtirol Alperia will be completed on Tuesday - but for the first time this season these two teams will meet Innsbruck. The first meeting of the season was still decided by the Sharks sovereign for themselves. However, the Foxes took revenge with a shutout victory, in which, in addition to goalie Kevin Boyle, striker Mike Halmo was also convincing with a brace. However, both teams are not at their strongest at the moment. While the Innsbruckers had to admit defeat in all three games after Christmas, the South Tyroleans have suffered three defeats in the past five games. For both teams it is the first game in the new calendar year.

The Tuesday matchday will be concluded with the encounter between HC Pustertal and the Dornbirn Bulldogs. The Wolves could make it back to the top 10 teams with a win and thus to a pre-playoff spot. For the Bulldogs, this is still a long way off. If the Vorarlberg team does not want to end the season already at the end of February, a run must be started quickly. Just a few days ago, the Bulldogs proved what they are capable of, especially against the South Triolians. On December 28, Kai Suikkanen's team celebrated a 5-0 shutout win against the Wolves, making them only one of two teams to defeat the South Tyroleans in December. Two weeks before that, however, HC Pustertal prevailed - also by shutout - against Dornbirn.
