The spusu Vienna Capitals relieve Head-Coach Marc Habscheid of his duties with immediate effect. Until the international break in November, the current assistant coach Christian Dolezal and U15 head coach Fabian Scholz will take over the interim command. In addition, a defender is to be signed on loan before Wednesday's clash against EC-KAC.

Canadian Marc Habscheid took over as head coach of the spusu Vienna Capitals in the summer. The Caps got in the 12 league games Habscheid era only two wins after 60 minutes and another victory after overtime. The last eight games were all lost. The work of the Canadian and the implementation of the comprehensible concept presented in the spring has been significantly complicated by countless injuries that have hit the Viennese in recent weeks.

Dolezal and Scholz take over
Former Capitals player Christian Dolezal has already served as assistant coach of the professional team since the 2020/21 season. The Viennese has two decades of experience within the Capitals organization and already sporadically represented both Habscheid and his predecessor Dave Barr as head coach. Ex-pro Fabian Scholz, who won this league with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz in the 2011/12 season, is considered an accomplished video coach and up-and-coming coaching talent. The 33-year-old, who has been with the Caps organization for a number of years, took the spusu Vienna Capitals U15 team he coached to the final of the ÖEHV-Liga in the preseason after an almost flawless first round. The interim coaching team will start with the preparation for the home game against EC-KAC.

Franz Kalla, General Manager of the Caps: "We thank Marc Habscheid for his work over the past months and acknowledge that the circumstances he had to deal with due to a wave of injuries were not always easy. Nevertheless, it is important for us to act immediately to put an end to the sporting slide as soon as possible. The team is in good hands with Christian Dolezal and Fabian Scholz. Regardless of this, the team in its current composition is much better than its position in the standings indicates. The squad needs self-confidence, and the best way to achieve that is to give it new impetus and, as a result, to win again as quickly as possible so that we can live up to our own expectations.
