After twelve unsuccessful games – with only four points – the Dornbirn Bulldogs won again, as the eleventh-ranked team won 3:1 at leader HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana and took revenge for the narrow home defeat in the first meeting. With a late powerplay goal by Sam Antonitsch (19./PP1), his first goal of the season, the guests gained plenty of confidence just before the break. Confidence was also given from goalie talent Felix Beck: The 20-year-old started for the first time this season – and kept his sheet clean until the 53rd minute, when Miha Stebih scored the equalizer. But the Bulldogs answered that less than two minutes later through Philipp Pöschmann (54.), who put the visitors on course for their fifth road win of the season, with Kevin Macierzynski’s empty netter rounding off the score.

Starkbaum gives Vienna perfect weekend

A perfect weekend let the spusu Vienna Capitals temporarily take fourth place in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League standings. Friday's narrow 2:1 win in Bolzano was followed by a 3:0 shutout victory for the two-time champions over HC Pustertal Wölfe. Goalie Bernhard Starkbaum, who saved a total of 41 shots on his goal, remained without conceding a goal for the fourth time in the running championship. Nikolaus Hartl gave Vienna the lead in the 34. minute, with a shot from the high slot. And the "Caps" then managed the preliminary decision in the final period: James Sheppard (48.) completed a perfect 3-on-1 combination and Matt Neal (55./PP1) after the rebound. The eleventh-ranked ICE newcomer remained without a point win in the Intercable Arena after four games and also lost the third duel of the season with the Austrians.
