Lucas Lessio grew up in Toronto, where he also played junior field hockey together with KAC defenseman Steven Strong. After a strong debut season in the OHL, he was selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the second round of the NHL draft in the summer of 2011, and he also made his debut in the world's strongest league for the Arizona club in October 2013. After a total of three professional years in North America with 41 NHL (Phoenix/Arizona, Montreal) and 173 AHL appearances, the Canadian moved in the summer of 2016 to the ex-EBEL club Medveščak Zagreb, playing KHL. In total, the forward has since represented eight European clubs in the top leagues of Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic and Germany. Most recently, he was active in the DEL with the Krefeld Penguins; his 25 goals in regular season of the past campaign were surpassed by only three forward in the entire league.
