EC-KAC wins CHL-opener

The EC-KAC started with a win in the new CHL-campaign. The acting champ celebrated a 3:2 success against the Finnish CHL-evergreen Tappara Tampere. The HC Orli Znojmo got his first home win in this preseason campaign.

KAC wins CHL opener against Tappara Tampere
The EC-KAC had a successful start into the CHL campaign. The acting champ had a couple of opportunities in powerplay in the starting period. After two unused powerplays Thomas Hundertpfund scored in the third possibility in numerous advantage to open the scoring of the night. Tappara Tampere stroke back in the beginning of the second period – in the last second of their second powerplay. The answer of the KAC came quick. Only 40 seconds later Daniel Obersteiner recaptured the lead. The Finns managed to tie the game once again but Matthew Neal brought his team back in front still in the second third. The KAC acted cleverly in the final period and brought the lead over the time for the first win in the first game this CHL-season.
The Moser Medical Graz99ers and the Vienna Capitals will have their first CHL-games on tomorrows Friday.

Znojmo earns first home win in pre-season
Orli Znojmo were in control of their second home pre-season game against MAC Budapest, a Hungarian team playing in Slovak Extraliga. Two goalies who shared Znojmo´s goal crease last season matched against each other - Teemu Lassila for Znojmo and Tomas Halasz for MAC. Eagles took an early two-goal lead through new additions Aaron Berisha and Kevin Tansey.

Nagy pulled one back for MAC midway through the first period, but the home team never let the lead slip and gradually built it´s goal advantage through the course of the game. Other goalscorers were David Bartos, Anthony Luciani on a breakway and Patrik Novak with a rebound from close range.
