Release from 14.10.2021
The EK Zell Polar Bears landed the surprise of Thursday night in the Alps Hockey League with a win over league leader Jesenice. In addition, the Steel Wings Linz managed to take revenge against EC-KAC. In the West derby, Kitzbühel turned the game around against Feldkirch, while the Rittner Buam continued their winning run. EHC Lustenau and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey had no problems in their encounters.
Steel Wings take revenge
The Steel Wings Linz took revenge on EC-KAC. After the 2:6 defeat at the end of September, the Linz team celebrated a 5:3 success and was able to reduce the gap in the standings to Klagenfurt to two points. However, KAC initially went ahead in Thursday's encounter before the Steel Wings went into the first intermission with a lead after a double strike. Klagenfurt managed to retake the lead in the middle third, but a furious finish by the Upper Austrians then clinched the 5:3 victory.
Polar bears land surprise of the day
The EK Zeller Eisbären landed the surprise of the round and defeated the league leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice with 5:4. After three recent defeats, the Salzburgers returned to the track of success against the top team of the league. In a game that was exciting for 60 minutes, the Polar Bears had the better end. Philipp Kreuzer in particular was unstoppable for the Slovenians. The 26-year-old Austrian contributed two goals and two assists and also scored the game-winner 51 seconds before the end.
Kitzbühel turns around West derby
EC 'Die Adler' Stadtwerke Kitzbühel and BEMER VEU Feldkirch played an exciting western derby. After trailing 1:3, the Tyroleans finally prevailed in a penalty shootout. Feldkirch continues to be unlucky this season, having only won once in their eight games so far. Kitzbühel has captured points in eight of its nine games and has now moved into the top six.
Ritten continues run of success
The Rittner Buam continued their winning run on Thursday and celebrated the eighth success in the last games. For the Fassa Falcons the negative series was prolonged - it was already their fourth defeat in a row. In this encounter, Fassa took the lead twice before a strong finish by the Buam finally clinched the victory. The win allowed the Buam to reduce the gap to the leading duo to five points.
Lustenau celebrates shutout success
EHC Lustenau continues to be one of the top teams in the league. Although they recently suffered a defeat, the Vorallberger are among the top 4 teams in the league after victory over HC Meran/o. The visitors acted much more efficiently than Meran on Thursday night and eventually recorded a 3-0 shutout victory. Lustenau goalie Erik Rickard Hanses cleared 31 shots on his goal in the victory.
Asiago draws level with leader
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey drew level with leader Jesenice after victory over WSV Sterzing Broncos. The guests from Sterzing took the lead at first. But in the second period at the latest, the yellow-reds took full control of the match and finally prevailed 5:2. Anthony Salinitri scored a brace.
