Collins brace brings two points to Vilach
EC Grand Immo VSV fought their way to an overtime win as guests of EC Red Bull Salzburg. While the Villach team scored for the fourth time in a row, EC Red Bull Salzburg suffered their third defeat in a row. In the fourth and last meeting of these two teams in the regular season (Phase 1), the Eagles managed the second success. Both times, however, they could only achieve the decision in overtime or in the penalty shootout. Salzburg took a double lead already in the first period. However, the Villach Eagles fought their way back in the middle third and managed to equalize. After a scoreless final period, Chris Collins provided the decision. It was also the Canadian who scored the equalizer in the middle period. While Salzburg's cushion on the sixth-placed chaser continues to shrink, Villach managed to catch up with the top-8 teams.

Thomas Koch provides decision with only goal
The EC-KAC took revenge for the narrow defeat against HCB Südtirol Alperia a few days ago and celebrated a 1:0 overtime victory. Veteran Thomas Koch provided the only goal of the match for the decision. It was already his 71st game-winner in his career in this league. The Klagenfurt team continues to be in top form. In the new year, the KAC captured 18 of a possible 21 points, making them the hottest team in the league. In the standings, they reduced the gap to leader Bolzano to six points. The clash of the two best defenses in the league delivered what it promised in advance. The goalies shone on both sides and did not allow any goals in an attractive regular playing time. In overtime, Leland Irving, who had previously impressed with top saves, finally had to admit defeat. Record-breaking Thomas Koch scored the decisive goal. For Koch, it was already the 71st game-winner in his career in this league.

Fehérvár cuts gap to leader with OT win
Second-placed Hydro Fehérvár AV19 celebrated a 3:2 overtime victory over HC TIWAG Innsbruck and thus reduced the gap to league leader Bolzano to one point. After Fehérvár's clear victory over Innsbruck a little more than a week ago, the Hungarians managed to win again. This time, however, it was much more exciting. The hosts were ahead in the first period, but conceded a goal in the middle period when they were shorthanded. Fehérvár also took the lead in the final period. However, a storming run of the Sharks on the box of Daniel Kornakker brought the equalizer shortly before the end. Daniel Ciampini brought his team into overtime just eleven seconds before the supposed end. There, Janos Hari finally ensured the decision for Fehérvár AV19.

Former Black-Wings-Cracks turn game for Graz99ers
The Moser Medical Graz99ers prevailed against the Steinback Black Wings 1992 in overtime. For Linz it was already the eighth defeat in the last nine games. The 99ers, on the other hand, returned to winning ways after three losses in a row. In the first period, long-time 99ers crack Zintis Zusevics gave the Linzers the lead. Subsequently, the goalies of both teams were in the foreground and did not allow any goals for another 46 minutes. Daniel Oberkofler, who has already played numerous seasons for the Linz team, was able to overcome David Kickert a little more than three minutes before the supposed end and brought his team into overtime. There, Erik Kirchschläger, who also has a long Black Wings past, finally ensured the decision for the Graz team. This was a successful comeback for 99ers goalie Ben Bowns, who was back between the posts for the first time since October 2, 2020.
