In game #71 on Sunday between EC Red Bull Salzburg and HCB Südtirol Alperia, a curious and at first glance obscure situation occurred:
In the 33rd minute, EC Red Bull Salzburg goalkeeper Atte Tolvanen recorded a save. The puck was lost in the goalie's equipment and could not be found even in the immediately following power break. In the 37th minute, there was a scramble in front of the Salzburg goal. Because there was a puck behind the line, some assumed at that point that a goal had been scored.

One of the game officials could see two different pucks in play, and one game official knew that the last puck used had never crossed the goal line. The game officials were also aware that a puck had previously been lost - leading to a review by the VGJ system. Upon review, the game officials determined that the last puck used had not crossed the line and only the second puck that had previously been lost crossed the goal line.
