Fast Start Earns Graz Shutout Win over Innsbruck

Defending champions Moser Medical Graz99ers opened Round 8 with a 3:0 home win over HC TIWAG Innsbruck. The Styrians set the tone early, scoring all three goals within the opening nine minutes. Round 8 concludes on Sunday with six games.

Graz made a flying start against Innsbruck. League top scorer Nick Swaney opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Clay Hanus doubled the lead just two minutes later. Jakob Lippitsch then completed the scoring with Graz’s third goal in the ninth minute.

After the explosive opening, the visitors settled into the game and prevented the scoreline from becoming even more decisive. Innsbruck goaltender Sam Harvey had a busy night, making an impressive 48 saves on 51 shots from the 99ers. At the other end, new signing Henri Kiviaho had to make just 21 saves and celebrated a shutout on his debut for Graz.

The win moves Graz temporarily up to sixth place in the standings, while Innsbruck remain in 11th.
