Fehervar AV19 has successfully qualified for the Playoffs

Fehervar AV19 has defended place 6 with a 6:3-home-win over EC Red Bull Salzburg on Sunday and has successfully qualified for the Pick Round and Playoffs 2019. Besides, Moser Medical Graz99ers fixed place 1 and the first Champions Hockey League ticket. EC-KAC, EC Panaceo VSV, HC Orli Znojmo and spusu Vienna Capitals celebrated wins on Sunday too.

Sun, 03.02.2019: Fehervar AV19 vs. EC Red Bull Salzburg 6:3 (0:1,1:1,5:1)

Salzburg started strong the last game in the regular season against Fehervar, Carruth had to make big saves already in the first few minutes, then Fehervar threatened in the 5th minute, Reisz, Tikkanen and Phillips all missed, though. In the middle of the period, the game became more balanced, however, the physical side of the game came up in front of both nets. The Red Bulls were more active in front of Carruth from the 13th minute on, Raffl and Duncan both had a chance to score but they missed. In the end, Raffl put the puck in the net, putting his team up one goal. After Carruth’s penalty, Salzburg missed a powerplay opportunity before the buzzer, the five-on-four chance went on without bigger chances. The second 20 minutes started similarly to the first one, however, the Hungarians managed to get to Michalek’s net more and more often. Sofron threatened from the left side, Koskiranta missed the rebound. One minute later, Erdely was more successful, he put the puck in the net after Stipsicz’s shot. Rauchenwald fouled but Fehervar did not manage to score on the powerplay, not even on the second one. Playing full strength, Salzburg went on a counterattack after Meland’s chance and it was Alexander Rauchenwald to score from close. At the end of the period, the guests pushed harder but Fehervar defended well. Fehervar was the more dangerous team on ice at the beginning of the third period, and they tied the game fast, Caruso put a blueliner in the net. Hari and co. did not stop, just a minute later, Meland scored after a wraparound. Salzburg pushed hard for their third goal, however, the home team defended well. The Devils scored theit goal on the counterattack, too, Stipsicz was open on the right and he did not miss. In the second half of the period, the went on fast-paced and at a high quality and from the few chances Fehervar had, they scored on every mistake Salzburg made. They did so 4 minutes before the buzzer, Hari scored after a tip-in. The endgame was exciting though, Raffl’s shot went in the net, then Greg Poss pulled his goalie, but it was Erdely Csanad who made the fans cheer in the last minute, he scored in the empty net.

Moser Medical Graz99ers won 6:5 after Overtime in Dornbirn on Sunday and finished the first part of the regular season on place 1. Besides, the Styrians have successfully qualified for the Champions Hockey League season 2019/20 for the first time. The match has become a goal festival in the second period and has ended 5:5 after 60 minutes. The Styrians were already leading 5:3 after 48 minutes, but the Dornbirn Bulldogs showed character and came back with two quick goals potted by Picard (52./pp) and Timmins (53.).  So, the match went into an Overtime, where King decided the game for the Graz99ers with a 5-on-3-Power Play goal in minute 61. While the 99ers celebrated place 1, Dornbirn fell in the ranking to place 9.

EC-KAC won in Linz 2:1. The Black Wings are forced to go into the Qualification Round for the first time. Davies gave the Upper Austrians a 1:0-lead (17.). But, Klagenfurt responded quickly after the first break: Wahl netted the 1:1 in a Power Play with a big shot (24.). The Black Wings tried to respond, but they could not beat goalie Madlener anymore. Klagenfurt decided the game in minute 52: The „Red Jackets“ won a bully, Hundertpfund got the puck and his quick shot went past goalie Mike Ouzas.

Sun, 03.02.2019: HC TWK Innsbruck „Die Haie“ vs. spusu Vienna Capitals 1:4 (0:1,1:1,0:2)
Referees: BERNEKER, GRUBER; spectators: 2.300
spusu Vienna Capitals had more from the game in Innsbruck and got a 2:0-lead thanks goals from Nissner (10.) and Mullen (27.). The Caps seemed to have everything under control now. But, in minute  32, Wachter netted the 1:2 for the Sharks and the Tyroleans were alive again. Lammers came close to score the 2:2 just three minutes later, but he missed the biggest scoring chance. In period 3, the Capitals were the chiefs on the ice again and added two goals from Schneider and DeSousa for a clear 4:1-win. Vienna finished part 1 of the regular season on place 2, Innsbruck on place 10.

Znojmo took the lead early in the game, as Oscadal could send the puck over the line after a scramble before Nikolic. Jacmenjak leveled the score in the 7th minute when he fired a wrister from the blueline. Not even a minute later Znojmo were back in the driver’s seat through Matus. The Czech Eagles secured a two-goal lead 30 seconds later when Nemec found the back of the net. In the 11th minute Sedlak extended the lead to three goals after a nifty assist from behind the net right into the slot for the one timer. The second period started better for the home team, but they couldn’t score on two chances. It was the Eagles, who scored first, when Stretch buried one below the crossbar after a solo effort on the right wing. Hlava scored the sixth for the Eagles in the 29th minute on a quick breakaway, and midway through the game Stretch scored his second of the night from a tough angle on the right wing. Lattner and Kalus extended the lead to + 8 still in period 2. In the third period Luciani (54.) and Stretch (55.), to mark the hattrick scored for Znojmo, before Jarcov set the final score 11:2 for the Eagles.

EC Panaceo VSV beat HCB Südtirol Alperia after a goal-festival 6:4. Each team searched their luck in the offense 35:43-shots. Five out of ten goals have been scored by the special teams. Bozen was leading in Villach 3:2 until minute 33, but, then, the Eagles decided the game with three goals by DeSantis (35.), Down (39.) und Sharp (40./EN) within 303 seconds. Bozen could beat goalie Bakala just once in a Power Play in the last period and therefore, all thee points stayed in Villach. The Foxes finished part 1 of the regular season on place 5, Villach on place 11.
