Fehervar celebrates close home win against Bozen

In the only game on staurday of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, Fehevar AV19 celebrates a 1:0 success against HCB Südtriol Alperia. With that win, Fehervar narrows the gap in the standings to Bozen to one point.

The game between Fehervar AV19 and HCB Südtirol Alperia started with a chance on both sides, then it continued on powerplay on both ends but neither team scored. The first opportunity after playing full strength was for Fehervar, Sárpátki shot from close but Smith saved. After that, Bolzano missed another powerplay and Fehervar scored their first goal, Hári shot from the blue line in the 11th minute. After the goal, Fehervar was the better team on ice, but the score remained 1:0.

At the beginning of the second period, Vidmar and Petan had a brawl, and the game went on five on four for Fehervar. Fehervar missed all chances, but continued to dominate the game. Luttinen found the puck open by Smith’s pads but finally he missed. Fehervar had shot after shot in the middle of the period, LoVecchio and again Luttinen could have scored but Smith saved. One and a half minutes left in the period, Petan hit the post after a counterattack.

The game didn’t change much for the last period either, although Fehervar controlled the puck it didn1t show in the number of the goals. First Tomassoni, then Carlisle had to sit in the penalty box but Fehervar missed both powerplay opportunities. Gander could have tied the game 7 minutes before the end, however, Carruth saved but Music fouled. Carruth had to make big saves in the Bolzano powerplay, then, before the final buzzer the guests had another five-on-four opportunity, which they missed. 40 seconds were left in the period when Pat Curcio pulled his goalie but they didn’t manage to score and Fehervar won the game.
