Hydro Fehervar AV19 took the momentum from the preseason - the Hungarians won all their preparation games - into the championship as well and celebrated a clear 5-1 victory against EC GRAND Immo VSV. Janos Hari put the home team ahead after just 188 seconds, scoring the first goal of the new bet-at-home ICE Hockey League season. By the 22nd minute Fehervar increased to 3:0, the interim VSV goal by Anton Karlsson (24th) on powerplay was rewarded by Kevin Constantine's team with two more goals and pinned down the clear opening victory.
Defending champion EC-KAC dominates opener
The EC-KAC started the new season with a clear 5-0 shutout win over the spusu Vienna Capitals - making the “Rotjacken” the first league leaders of the new season. The defending champions clearly dominated their opener in front of more than 3000 spectators against decimated Vienna, missing no less than five regular players. Matt Fraser (12.) opened the scoring with a deflection. With goals from Dennis Sticha, Stefan Geier and Fraser again, the "Rotjacken" made the preliminary decision in the second period, Manuel Ganahl (52.) rounded off the score.
Salzburg opens with shutout too
With a clear 4-0 road win at Steinbach Black Wings Linz, EC Red Bull Salzburg also managed a commanding start without conceding a goal. Goalie Nicolas Wieser celebrated a shutout with 22 saves. 20-year-old Kilian Zündl (4.) provided the lead with his ICE premiere goal. TJ Brennan, who scored a brace, and Peter Hochkofler scored the other goals in a game dominated by Salzburg.

HC Pustertal kicks off with road win
HC Pustertal Wölfe successfully completed its premiere game in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. The league newcomer won 3:2 at the iClinic Bratislava Capitals. Twice the "Wolves" equalized a one-goal deficit before Shane Hanna (51.) hit the game winner. The South Tyroleans also benefited from their strong goalie Tomas Sholl, who saved 38 shots.
Innsbruck succeeds in turnaround
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie started the season with a 4-3 turnaround win. The Tyroleans were trailing 0:2 after eight minutes against league newcomer HK SZ Olimpija. Then new arrival Alex Dostie turned up the heat: Nine seconds left in the first he scored shorthanded, four minutes after the restart to equalize. In the final period, two more new arrivals, Nico Feldner (52.) and Zachary Magwood (60./EN), secured the opening win.
Bozen wins in high-scoring game
In the highest-scoring game of the first round, HCB Südtirol Alperia beat HC Orli Znojmo 5-4. Anthony Luciani put the Czech guests ahead midway through the first period before Bolzano made it 3-1 within two and a half minutes - Brett Findlay, Alex Trivellato and Domenico Alberga scored. The game remained tightly, but Bolzano was confident and carried a narrow advantage until the end. Luca Frigo completed his 300th game for the "Foxes".
Padakin with OT game-winner for Dornbirn
The Dornbirn Bulldogs celebrated a 3-2 road win after overtime at the Moser Medical Graz99ers to start the season. Through Kevin Hancock and Pavlo Padakin - on the powerplay - the Vorarlbergers were in the lead after 24 minutes. Newcomer David Madlener kept the visitors' sheet clean until the final period, before conceding two goals within five and a half minutes - Joey Martin and Adis Alagic scored for the Styrians. In the overtime, Padakin hit his second: Andrew Gordon had to go to the penalty bench for high stick and the new arrival from Dornbirn decided the game three seconds left in overtime.
