Fehervar wins preseason opener against Olimpija

Three bet-at-home ICE Hockey League teams kicked off their preseason on Friday. In a game of two league rivals, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 won 5-1 against HK SŽ Olimpija. While the Moser Medical Graz99ers were beaten 4-6 by Mountfield Hradec Králové from the Czech Republic, the Dornbirn Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 defeat against Swiss League side HC Thurgau.

The Moser Medical Graz99ers lost their first preseason match against HK Mountfield 4:6. The Graz side got better and better into the game from period to period and showed an appealing performance. However, the hosts had the better start and went into the first break with a 3:1 lead - Lukas Kainz scored the only goal for the Styrians. The Czechs then repeatedly took a three-goal lead, but the 99ers came back through Mario Altmann and Kainz again. The last goal of the game was scored by newcomer Andrew Gordon to make it 4:6.

Fehérvár wins against Olimpija
Two days after their 5-1 win over MAC Budapest, HK SŽ Olimpija were beaten 1-5 by Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in a league internal test. The Hungarians took the lead in the first match under new head coach Kevin Constantine through Anze Kuralt. The score remained at 1-0 until the high-scoring final period. Janos Hari, Alex Petan and Csanad Erdely increased the lead until Finnish defender Joona Erving scored for Olimpija. Kristóf Retfalvi, only 20 years old, finally scored the final goal to make it 5:1.

Dornbirn remains without a goal
Like last year (3:6), the Dornbirn Bulldogs had to admit defeat to HC Thurgau in this preseason. After a goalless first period, the Swiss League club took a 2:0 lead in the second period. In the end, the Swiss, for whom Austrian Patrick Spannring recorded two assists, won 3-0.
