After a strong first part of the regular season, finishing in third place, Hydro Fehérvár AV19's engine stuttered last campaign. The Hungarians fell back to fifth place in the Pick Round and were finally defeated 0:4 by the spusu Vienna Capitals in the quarterfinals.

Now the "Devils" started a new chapter under head coach Kevin Constantine, who also has NHL experience as a former head coach of the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins. It is the first engagement in the league for the 62-year-old US American. "I'm the new coach and we have eight new players. It takes time. I'm learning with every day and also seeing what I can expect from the players. For me it was a great start to training. And I expect that the team works hard throughout the season. We have to go to the net offensively and play defensively in a physical way," said the new coach.

Experienced head coach Kevin Constantine already led the first sessions.

While with the Finn Rasmus Tirronen, among others, a new goalkeeper was signed, forward Bálint Magosi returned to Fehérvár. Among the eight new arrivals are two players who came from league rivals: defender Gleason Fournier (Bolzano) and Henrik Nilsson (Dornbirn).

The Hungarians will play their first preseason game this Friday against league rivals HK SŽ Olimpija. Tests against DVTK Jegesmedvék (Hungary), Gyergyói HK (Romania) and HC Nové Zámky (Slovakia) have also been arranged in September.

Preseason interview with head coach Kevin Constantine:

  • What are your first impressions of the players?
  • How difficult was it to draw up a preparation plan because of the Olympic qualifiers?
  • What was the most important thing you learned during your career so far, which is even your philosophy?
  • What kind of game can the fans of Fehérvár expect from the team?
  • What is the most important thing in the first preseason match of the season in general?
