Dornbirn started the game better, Mike Ouzas had more to do at the beginning of the game then Fehervar got more and more offensive. Jonathan Harty could have scored after a tip-in but Rinne saved. Fehervar possessed the puck more towards the middle of the period, yet they were ineffective in front of the net. Although it was more likely that the home team scores the first goal of the game, the guests did so, after a turnover Evan Trupp scored.

The second period started balanced, Timmins could have tied the game but instead of the first home goal, Häußle deflected Schwinger’s shot and doubled the lead for Dornbirn. Both teams pushed hard in the upcoming minutes, but it seemed Dornbirn had the momentum. Koger was penalized but the guests could not capitalize on their chances five on four. Rinne was the best player on ice for Dornbirn for the rest of the period as he saved all chances from Erdély, Krisztián Szabo and Yogan.

Dornbirn controlled the puck at the beginning of the third period, then Fehervar took the momentum and had chance after chance. Although Rinne was very confident in the net, the Hungarians managed to break the ice and score for the first time in the game, as Andrew Sarauer put the puck in the net in the middle of the period. As the minutes went by, Koger and co. became more and more offensive and this resulted another goal, Mike Caruso tied the game with a blueliner. Although both teams had the chance to score the game-winning goal in the remainder of the third period, the game went into overtime. The Hungarians were better on ice three on three and finally it was Kuralt to pass to Andrew Yogan who didn’t miss and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 won the game.
