Hydro Fehérvár AV19 became the third team to qualify for the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League playoffs with a 4-2 home win over Innsbruck. EC Red Bull Salzburg is the winner of the regular season after a 5-3 victory in Vienna and thus secured its participation in the Champions Hockey League season 22/23. Thanks to road wins EC GRAND Immo VSV defended its second place, HK SZ Olimpija moved back into the top-6 and HC TESLA Orli Znojmo is the first chaser in the top group in seventh place. Moser Medical Graz99ers extended their advantage to eleventh place with a 4-1 home win over Bolzano.
After Salzburg and Villach, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 is now also participating in the quarterfinals of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, as the Hungarians celebrated an unchallenged 4-2 victory over HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie at home. Braeden Shaw and Anze Kuralt each scored a brace to give the third ranked, which had three lines available, a 4-0 lead by the 25th minute. Innsbruck's top scorer Mike Huntebrinker, who scored for the 15th straight game, and Tim McGauley scored for the visitors.
Salzburg qualifies for Champions Hockey League
EC Red Bull Salzburg's 5-3 win over the spusu Vienna Capitals means that they can no longer be denied victory in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League's regular season. This is the seventh time Matt McIlvane's team has qualified for the Champions Hockey League. The special teams had a good form available, as the visitors took advantage of two of three power plays - both in the by TJ Brennan, while six of the eight shorthanded situations were survived without a goal against. In addition to Brennen, Ty Loney also scored twice. 17-year-old Luca Auer scored his ICE premiere goal.
Second place behind Salzburg was defended by EC GRAND Immo VSV, which recorded a rollercoaster win at HC Pustertal Wölfe with 6-4 and inflicted the first defeat on the ICE newcomer after seven wins in a row. Travis Oleksuk shown for the "Agler" with four points (2G|2A). Anton Karlsson recorded one assist in his comeback, while Tomi Karhunen saved 29 in his debut.
Ljubljana back in top-6
HK SZ Olimpija moved back up to sixth place in the table with a 4-2 win over the Dornbirn Bulldogs. A shorthanded goal by Jaka Sodja gave the Slovenians the lead in Vorarlberg, and with three more goals until the 30th minute of the game, the "Dragons" made things clear early on.
Behind Ljubljana lurked HC TESLA Orli Znojmo, who remained without conceding a goal for the second time in a row. The Czechs prevailed in a contested encounter at EC-KAC with 1:0 in the shootout. It was only the twelfth time since the league was re-established that a game remained scoreless over 65 minutes. For the Carinthians, it was already the fifth defeat in a row.
Graz increases advantage on eleventh spot
The Moser Medical Graz99ers have increased their advantage on rank eleven - and thus a non-pre-playoff place. The Styrians defeated HCB Südtirol Alperia 4-1 and showed themselves immensely efficient with four goals on only 20 shots on goal. Dominik Grafenthin scored a brace.
