Cheek is starting his sixth season in Europe in Hungary: In the first two campaigns he played in Denmark, after which he played for two years in Sweden's second division with Kristianstads and Västeras. In the past campaign, he played a total of 48 games for Vienna and scored 33 points.

"One of the main reasons I decided to join the team is the quality of play the team had last year and the ambition to be even better next season. Of course, many things play a role in such a decision, but in the end the most important thing is the chance to win the championship," he said.

Raffl, Nissner and Schneider remain with the Red Bulls
Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg can continue to rely on its leading players Thomas Raffl, Benjamin Nissner and Peter Schneider. While the contracts of Raffl and Nissner have been extended, Schneider still has a valid contract. As captain and currently a long-serving Red Bulls player, Thomas Raffl is the face of the Salzburg team. The now 37-year-old striker remains one of the club's top players. Last season, he was once again Salzburg's top scorer with 55 points and also scored by far the most goals (28).

Benjamin Nissner once again proved his qualities as a center last season. He was taken out of the game for an extended period during the Regular Season due to illness, but fought his way back from the start of the year and was Salzburg's fourth-best scorer (39 points) despite playing significantly fewer games.

Like Benjamin Nissner, Peter Schneider has been playing in Salzburg for three seasons and has won three titles with the Red Bulls during this time. Due to an ankle injury suffered at the end of January and another injury in the quarterfinals, Schneider missed a total of 16 games. Despite the injuries, he finished the past championship season as Salzburg's second-best scorer (50 points) behind Thomas Raffl and second-best goal scorer (19).

EC-KAC captain Hundertpfund extends his contract by two years
Homegrown player Thomas Hundertpfund, who has led the EC-KAC as captain since last summer, has extended his contract with the Klagenfurt team by two years. The coming season will be his 16th as a regular player in the KAC team. Thomas Hundertpfund has won four championship titles with the KAC so far, and he and his team have reached the final four more times.

Fifth season for Wolf in Linz
Raphael Wolf is entering his fifth season with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz. The 28-year-old defenseman has been on the ice 164 times for the Black Wings so far.
