After Villach was already victorious in the first duel of the season against Olimpija with 6:2, a clear 5:2 away win followed on Wednesday. Overall, it was already the fifth win in a row for the new third in the table. The guests from Carinthia had the better start in the "Karawanken derby". VSV top goal scorer Robert Sabolic put his team in the lead in the 11th minute with his tenth goal of the season. A few seconds before the end of the first period, Chris Collins increased the lead to 2:0 in a shorthanded situation.

Tenth-placed Olimpija came back into the game right at the start of the second period after Rok Kapel scored in the power play. But Benjamin Lanzinger restored the two-goal advantage less than two minutes later. Again, just over three minutes later, Nik Simsic scored to make it 2:3 from the Slovenian perspective. No further goals were scored in the second period.

Villach had the better start in the final period and went up 4:2 after just 64 seconds. Chris Collins scored for the second time this evening and for the seventh time overall this season. The final goal was scored by Alexander Rauchenwald 18 seconds before the end of the game.

Graz separates from Livingston

The Moser Medical Graz99ers have had to deal with a number of injury problems in recent weeks. To counteract this trend, the Styrians decided, among other things, to sign James Livingston. The 32-year-old scored one goal and three assists in 20 games. But now the 99ers and Livingston go seperate ways 99ers head coach Johan Pennerborn confirms: "James came into the squad for the injured Ken Ograjensek. We think he didn't fit into our system. He has a very professional personality, with a great character. We thank James for his commitment and wish him good luck for the future."
