The win2day ICE Hockey League heads into its final five games on Sunday before the next international break. The absolute top clash will decide the league lead: the new leader EC-KAC hosts second-placed Moser Medical Graz99ers – separated by just one point. Also on Sunday, the Vienna Capitals take on EC Red Bull Salzburg, while HCB Südtirol Alperia look to get back on track against the in-form FTC-Telekom. All five games will be broadcast live on Sporteurope.tv. Already today, Saturday, the 28th round gets underway with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz facing HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. In addition, the sixth game of Round 27 between HC TIWAG Innsbruck and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will be played.

Following Sunday’s action, the win2day ICE Hockey League will pause until Wednesday, 17 December – with the exception of the Villach vs. Salzburg matchup on Friday, 12 December.

EC-KAC claimed the top spot on Friday with a 2–1 road win in Salzburg. It was the fourth consecutive win for the Klagenfurt side, giving them a one-point lead over their closest pursuer, the Moser Medical Graz99ers. Graz had no game on Friday and have won their last five outings. They also have one game in hand. They already met twice this season, both thrilling encounters ending 3–2 for the visiting team – most recently, KAC after overtime in Graz.

Salzburg challenged in Vienna
Defending champion EC Red Bull Salzburg have failed to win their last two games and dropped to eighth place. On Friday, the Red Bulls narrowly lost 1–2 at home to Klagenfurt. The Vienna Capitals ended a three-game losing streak with a 4–1 home victory over Bolzano. They remain 11th, but narrowed the gap to 10th-placed Linz to three points. In both previous meetings with Salzburg this season, the Caps came up short – 3–4 in Salzburg and 1–3 at home.

Bolzano look to bounce back against in-form FTC
FTC-Telekom and HCB Südtirol Alperia open Sunday’s action already at 14:00. Budapest celebrated two impressive home wins over Pustertal (7–3) and Salzburg (2–1) and now aim to make it three straight on home ice. Fifth-placed Bolzano, who hold a six-point advantage over FTC, lost both road games this week in Villach and Vienna by identical 1–4 scores. Still, the Foxes have won six of their twelve road games so far, including the first in Budapest (5–4 SO), and also prevailed 2–0 at home.

Fourth meeting of the season between Innsbruck and Ljubljana
For the fourth and final time this regular season, HC TIWAG Innsbruck and Olimpija Ljubljana go head-to-head. Goals appear guaranteed: Ljubljana won the first one 9–3 away, followed by two overtime victories for Innsbruck in Ljubljana (6–5, 7–6). For Innsbruck, it will be their second game within 24 hours after hosting Fehérvár on Saturday. Before facing the Hungarians, the 12th-placed team had lost three straight. Third-placed Ljubljana last played on Friday and celebrated a 6–3 home win against Villach. However, they lost their last two road games.

Pioneers aim to collect more points vs. Fehérvár
On Sunday, Pioneers Vorarlberg also host Hydro Fehérvár AV19. After their 5–3 road win in Linz on Friday, the Pioneers want to add more points. They still sit last in the standings, but have now drawn level with second-to-last Innsbruck in points. Fehérvár are also in action on Saturday in Innsbruck. Prior to that, the ninth-placed Hungarians had won their last two games – 3–1 vs. Ljubljana and 6–1 in the derby against FTC. The first meeting in Vorarlberg went 3–0 to Fehérvár, while the return game in Székesfehérvár was won 4–1 by the Pioneers.
