The race to Eisner Auto Young Star of the season 20-21 is on. Voting closes Sunday night. With one player each of EC Red Bull Salzburg and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 and three of spusu Vienna Capitals, the five Young Stars of the Month are eligible for the award.

Five players are up for election for the Eisner Auto Young Star of the season 20-21 award. From the previous monthly winners, fans, national team coaches and experts from TV partners PULS 24 and Sky Sport Austria will now vote for the annual winner - their votes count for one third each, in case of a tie the better ranking from the fan voting will decide the winner of the year.

The following five players are available for selection.

SEBASTIAN WRANESCHITZ (spusu Vienna Capitals) | Eisner Auto Young Star September/October
Sebastian Wraneschitz of the spusu Vienna Capitals has won the first monthly voting - the first two months have been combined in one vote. The 19-year-old made his debut in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League on October 4th. Already in his second game - seven days later in Innsbruck - he impressed with a save percentage of 96.8%. He then recorded his first shutout against the Dornbirn Bulldogs. At the end of the quarterfinal series, Wraneschitz, who also made it onto the Central Scouting Service's "Players to Watch" list for the upcoming NHL Entry Draft after his strong performances with the U20 national team, is at 12 appearances for the season.

PAUL HUBER (EC Red Bull Salzburg) | Eisner Auto Young Star November
The fans decided the November ballot in favor of Paul Huber from EC Red Bull Salzburg. The 20-year-old has been a fixture in the lineup of the six-time champions since this season and showed some strong performances right after the covid 19 related re-start: Against EC-KAC, he netted the consolation goal in the 1-4 defeat on his comeback. After now 33 season games - in the current playoff he already recorded four appearances (1A) - the forward collected six points (4G|2A). Paul Huber finished third in last year's election.

AKOS MIHALY (Hydro Fehérvár AV19) | Eisner Auto Young Star December
Akos Mihaly of Hydro Fehérvár AV19 also qualified for the annual election for the second time in a row. The Hungarian received the award for his performance in the month of December. The 21-year-old is now a regular member of this year's ICE quarter finalists. The Hungarian international played all 52 games of the season for Hydro Fehérvár AV19, and in the end rcorded 13 points (5G|8A). In December, a month so dominated by the Hungarians, the talent showed up with six points from 13 games.

PATRICK ANTAL (spusu Vienna Capitals) | Eisner Auto Young Star January
Patrick Antal, a native of Vienna and Caps homegrown forward, has had a permanent place in the squad of the two-time champions since this season. For several game days, the 20-year-old, who went through all Silver Capitals junior teams in the spusu Vienna Capitals organization, was a first-line center. He also had his regular spot in one of Vienna's two power play units. In January, the Vienna Capitals Hockey Academy student scored his ICE premiere goal in a 4-:2 home win over Fehérvár. On February 19, he had to end the season prematurely due to a forearm injury (2G|4A).

With Lukas Piff, the spusu Vienna Capitals also have a third player in the Eisner Auto Young Star of the Season voting. The Vienna Capitals Hockey Academy graduate played 42 of the 48 regular-season games and all four playoff games. The Vienna native and Caps homegrown defenseman accounted for eleven assists in the basic round. The 20-year-old signed his first young professional contract in the summer of 2019, and before that he went through all of the Caps' junior levels. He was also considered for the U18 and U20 national teams.

Procedure of the election
First, five monthly winners were determined. For this purpose, four players per month are nominated to take part in the voting. Due to only two gamedays in September 2020, the first two months have been combined into one election. The five monthly winners will then compete in March 2021 for the title of "Eisner Auto Young Star of the 2020/21 season".

The election consists of three components: in addition to the fan voting on the league homepage, the Puls24 and Sky experts, as well as the national team coaches of the countries participating in the ICE will also cast their votes. If two or more players receive the same number of votes, they will be ranked according to the result of the fan vote.
