In the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League Placement Round, Sabres St. Pölten currently lead the standings with nine points, followed by the KSV Highlanders with three points, who will still play twice this weekend. On Friday evening, they host the still point-less VSV Lady Hawks, followed by what could be the decisive away game for first place against Sabres St. Pölten on Sunday.

Pure drama in the Qualification Round
While the three teams from the Placement Round have already secured their spots in the Final Four, the Qualification Round will determine the fourth qualifier. At the moment, the Lakers Kärnten are in the best position to claim that spot. They lead the table with seven points, followed by the Graz99ers Huskies with three points and the DEC Salzburg Eagles with two points. The Salzburg side no longer has a chance to reach first place. To close out their season, they will host Graz on Sunday.

The Styrian team will also be in action on Saturday, hosting the Lakers Kärnten at 12:00. A win is a must for the Huskies if they want to overtake the Lakers. For the Carinthians, Saturday’s game marks the end of their Qualification Round campaign.

Six games in the European Women’s Hockey League
In the European Women’s Hockey League, the regular season is also approaching its decisive phase. Six games are scheduled for this weekend. Second-placed Aisulu Almaty, currently seven points behind league leaders Sabres St. Pölten, will face a double challenge in Budapest: first against MAC Budapest, followed by a game against the Budapest Jégkorong Akadémia.

Third-placed EVB Eagles South Tyrol will also play twice in Hungary against the Budapest teams this weekend. In addition, there will be a doubleheader between HK PSRZ Bratislava and Tauron Metropolia Silesia.
