  • The EC-KAC successfully entered the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League's "best-of-7" final series with a 6:0 road win on Sunday. Never has a team celebrated a higher opening victory since the league was founded in 2000.
  • Two players were outstanding on the KAC side:
    • ICE top scorer Nick Petersen scored a hat trick, becoming only the fourth player to score three goals in a final game (Unterluggauer in 2001, Kromp in 2002, Laliberté in 2014).
    • Goalie Sebastian Dahm stopped all 29 shots on goal and recorded his tenth shutout of the season. The Dane became the first KAC goalie in history with ten shutouts on the season. Dahm did not conceded a goal in the past two home games. He is 157 minutes and one second without a goal against on home ice.
  • The KAC has opened eight of its ten finals series with a win. Four titles ultimately also clinched after a win in game one. Only in the last championship win in 2019, the "Rotjacken" started with a loss. In its third appearance in the final, HCB for the first time suffered a defeat in the opener.
  • In the previous 19 finals series, twelve times the team that also won the first game of the series later clinched the titel.
  • The KAC has yet to lose a home game in the current postseason, winning all six games on home ice.
  • The KAC has won five of seven games against HCB this season. Of the three games in Klagenfurt, the “Rotjacken” have won the last two.
  • HCB has won nine of its 27 games in Klagenfurt so far.
  • The KAC is still missing the long-term injured David Fischer, Paul Postma and Dennis Sticha.
  • HCB is still missing the suspended Mike Halmo.
