The Finnish youth national team player played a total of 301 Liiga games in his career, scoring 140 points (42G|98A). He has spent the last four seasons in Finland's top division. In 2017/18 at Mikkelin Jukurit he was the best Liiga defender with 39 points. Two seasons later, he also played eight games in the Champions Hockey League with his last team Tappara Tampere.

Suhonen has already arrived in Dornbirn and is available to Bulldogs’ Head Coach Kai Suikkanen effective immediately. The 32-year-old Finn is considered as a fast skater and will give the Bulldogs defense more flexibility.
