One week last the break for the spusu Vienna Capitals – the two-time champion was free of play on Friday – now the leader, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, is travelling to Vienna. The "Adler" are the only team to hold the maximum amount of points (9). Villach managed its best start to the season since the 2009-10 campaign, when the Carinthians started with five wins in a row. In the last ten years, VSV has collected an average of 5.1 points in the first three rounds. Last season the "Caps" won both home games against Villach, but before that the guests were successful four times in a row. Vienna, which last lost at home to Ljubljana on Sunday, will have to do without Zintis Zusevics and Dominic Hackl (both upper body injury). Alex Wall returns to his former team for the first time with Villach: in the last five seasons, the defender played 296 games in yellow and black. Vienna is one of four teams that have yet to score on the power play this year. The visitors are still without Layne Viveiros and Kevin Hancock, and Marco Richter (upper-body injury) is also out.

On Friday, EC-KAC, thanks to three goals from defensive players, claimed its first win of the season with a 4-2 victory in Bolzano. Hydro Fehérvár AV19, on the other hand, had to admit defeat for the first time this season, losing the home debut against Salzburg 1-4. The Hungarians are still unbeaten on the road this season. In Klagenfurt, they have always scored in their last three appearances, winning two times. In total, however, there have only been eleven victories in 40 guest appearances. In general, in the past of this fixture 68.8% of the games were won by the home team.

This year, the team of Head Coach David Kiss has so far convinced with a flawless penalty killing (16/16). Klagenfurt, which will play its first home game in this still young season, is still waiting for its first goal on powerplay.

For Klagenfurt, in addition to the still convalescent Obersteiner, Gomboc and Jesen Aabo, Raphael Herburger, who was injured on Friday in Bolzano, is also out.

The BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg also had a strong start to the season, winning their last two games and fighting for their first win in Salzburg: In the past season, the Vorarlberg team lost clearly twice on the road (1:6 and 1:5 respectively).

Both teams showed a good defensive performance so far (RBS 5 Goals Against and PIV 4 GA respectively) and could rely on their goalies: Atte Tolvanen showed a save percentage of 97.1% in his two starts, Alex Caffi came up with 97.5% in two games. Paul Stapelfeldt should make his comeback for Salzburg. Oskar Maier, already a two-time scorer this year, will face his former club for the first time with the Pioneers.

Besides Villach and Salzburg, HC Pustertal Wölfe is also undefeated: The South Tyrolean team has eight points after three games and only gave up one point in the shootout win in Innsbruck (6-5). Especially in the comparison of "Shots on Goal" the Upper Austrians have the disadvantage with 76 to 112. The last comparison of the two teams in Linz was won by the South Tyroleans with 4-1, before that the home team won three times.

In the duel between Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey and HCB Südtirol Alperia, the two teams that have not yet scored in the current season will meet: The Italians lost their previous three games, needed 148 minutes and 13 seconds before William Rapuzzi scored Asiago's first goal of the season in a 2-5 defeat in Bruneck on Friday. The vice-champion has suffered as many as four defeats, conceding an average of four goals. This means that Bolzano has already gone nine competitive games without a win. Even the dismissal of head coach Niklas Sundblad on Friday before the game against Klagenfurt did not bring a turnaround for the time being.
