EC-KAC II opens their preseason with a Carinthian derby on the road against the u20 of EC VSV, who play in Erste Bank Young Stars League. It's the first of seven friendlies for Ryan Foster's team. EC Bregenzerwald faces Swiss third-division club GDT Bellinzona the same day. It will be the debut for new coach Jussi Tupamäki at the players bench.

Asiago and Fassa with new signings
HC Fassa Falcons signed 29-year-old Eetu Heikkinen for the upcoming Alps Hockey League season. The Finnish defender played in his home country for most parts of his career, going abroad in 2014 for the first time. After two years with Beibarys Atyrau in Kazakhstan, Heikkinen spent the last campaign with Swedish Division 1 side Asplöven HC (37 points in 43 games).

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 made a big signing as Alex Gellert joins the club. The 27-year-old defender, who can also play winger, followed in the footsteps of father Kim early. Alex was born in Italy and started to play hockey here but returned to Canada with his family later. In 2013 he came back to play for Milano and Hafro Cortina Hockey in the Italian league. Last season he hit the ice for Erste Bank Eishockey Liga side HC Bolzano.

Contract extension at Cortina and Gherdëina
After a great first AHL season, Marco De Filippo signed a contract extension with Hafro Cortina Hockey. The 27-year-old netminder greatly impressed with a 2.43 GAA and .928 save percentage last campaign. The Cortina native spent seven years in North America, before returning to his home club in 2016.

HC Gherdëina announced the contract extension with some young talents. While Florian Moroder (18 years), Bean Schmalzl (17) and Jan Demetz (19) make it to the senior team for the first time, forwards Andreas Vinatzer and Diego Glück head into their second #AlpsHockey season. Last campaign 17-year-old Glück had 19 appearances, Vinatzer, who is one year older, earned two assists in 32 games.
