First teams can fix the Playoff and Pre-Playoff qualification

The EHC Lustenau was defeated last Saturday from Cortina at home with 3:4. In the table, the Italians thus moved past the Vorarlbergers, which is why the EHC is currently outside the direct playoff places as fifth in the table. Opponent SHC Fassa Falcons could only get one point in the Master Round and are therefore at the bottom of the table. They scored the point against Lustenau (2:3-SO). The Falcons have been waiting for a win since January 22nd. In the direct duel between the EHC and FAS, the Vorarlberg team is clearly ahead with 10:2.

As second in the table, the Rittner Buam are currently on course for direct playoff qualification. The winner of the first phase of the basic round, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, follows in third place. The Slovenians have been struggling recently, losing to both Cortina and Lustenau. In both games they conceded five goals. Ritten, on the other hand, won against Fassa with 5:1. In the first leg, Jesenice managed a narrow 3:2 home victory.

With 21 points out of possible 21, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey is unchallenged at the top of the Master Round. A point in Thursday's game at Cortina Hafro Hockey is enough for last year's finalist to clinch an early playoff spot. Even a defeat could be enough if Lustenau does not win in regular playing time in the parallel game. Cortina, on the other hand, is currently in fourth place in the standings. Last Saturday's 4:3 win in Lustenau moved them past the Vorarlbergers. Against Asiago, however, Cortina has been waiting for a win for nine games across all competitions. The first leg in the Master Round was won by the league leaders with 4:2.

Qualification Round A:

In the Qualification Round A it is the game of the last chance for the EC-KAC Future Team and EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. As fourth in the table, the Future Team is currently six points behind the third place and thus the pre-playoffs. They can still get a maximum of nine points. Kitzbühel is already eight points behind and therefore only has a mathematical chance to qualify for the pre-playoffs. Vipiteno is currently in third place. Last Saturday, both teams conceded a defeat. For Klagenfurt it was the first after two wins in a row. Kitzbühel has been waiting for a win after regular plying time for five games. Twice they won after overtime or shootout. In the first leg, the Eagles picked up a 4:3 OT win. It was their 12th win in their 15th AHL duel with the Future Team.

Leader EC Red Bull Salzburg can finally fix their ticket for the pre-playoffs with a win on Thursday. But even with a defeat they could make it in the end. Opponent Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan is also on its way to the pre-playoffs. As third in the table, they are currently six points ahead of the fourth place. The Broncos are a fearful opponent for the Young Bulls. In seven of the past eight duels Sterzing took the victory. In the first leg of the Qualification Round, however, RBJ prevailed clearly with 4:1.

Lots of tension for the pre-playoff places offers Qualification Round B. The EK Die Zeller Eisbären is currently fourth in the standings, two points behind the Steel Wings Linz, who are currently in third place. A win on Thursday would bring the Upper Austrians very close to their first pre-playoff appearance in AHL history. Last Saturday, the Polar Bears struggled to a 1:0 win after overtime against Meran/o. It was their first win after previously losing three in a row. The Steel Wings, on the other hand, lost with 3:5 in Feldkirch and were defeated for the first time after previously winning three games in a row. In the first leg, the Steel Wings came back from a 0:2 deficit to win with 3:2 at home.

The HC Ghedeina valgardena.it can fix the Pre-Playoffs on Thursday. The current leader of Qualification Round B is ten points ahead of fourth-placed Zell am See. With the BEMER VEU Feldkirch, the South Tyroleans have the second in the table as guests, who, however, is also already seven points behind. Both teams were successful last Saturday. Before that, they dueled for the first time in the Qualification Round. In Feldkirch, the guests from Val Gardena were already with 4:1 in front, to lose with 4:5 in the end. The game-winner in favor of the VEU was scored by Steven Birnstill one minute before the end of the game.

In the only match on Friday, the HC Meran/o Pircher will play at the Vienna Capitals Silver. In the Qualification Round B standings, both teams are ranked fifth (HCM) and sixth (VCS). The participation in the Pre-Playoffs is therefore already far away for both teams. Last Friday, both teams dueled for the first time in the Alps Hockey League. In an even game Meran/o won with a close score of 2:1.
