Salzburg challenged in top match against Bolzano
Salzburg and Bolzano meet for the second time this season. At the season opener, the Red Bulls narrowly won 4–3 in Bolzano. Last season, both teams met in the semifinals, with eventual champions Salzburg prevailing 4–1. Currently, both clubs are in strong form: Salzburg sits second with 14 points, Bozen follows closely with 12. Both teams have lost only once this season – Bolzano in the opener against Salzburg. Salzburg are particularly dominant at home, having won all five home games so far across all competitions this season. Their last home defeat was on March 23 in the semifinals against Bozen. For Italian fans, the game is available on DAZN Italia for free.

Ljubljana aims to stay unbeaten
The unbeaten league leaders Olimpija Ljubljana visit the Vienna Capitals on Friday. The capital city duel sees eight points separating the teams – Vienna is currently seventh. This is already the second meeting this season: At the season opener, Ljubljana recorded a decisive 8–1 home win. With 37 goals scored, the Slovenians boast by far the best offense in the league. Graz follows with 22, while Vienna has scored 18 goals so far. For the Capitals, it is their fourth home game – after two wins against Budapest and Linz, they recently lost 1–3 to Salzburg.

Linz and KAC in crisis duel
Both the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and EC-KAC are currently struggling in the standings. Klagenfurt sits tenth with six points, Linz eleventh with three points. The Black Wings won only their season opener against the Pioneers, followed by four consecutive defeats. The KAC has lost its last two matches but started the season with two wins from the first three games. This season, the teams meet for the first time. Last season, they played a spectacular semifinal series, with KAC winning the decisive seventh game 2–0. The severely weakened Linz defense was reinforced during the week with Michael Kernberger, a native of Klagenfurt who played for his hometown club until 2021 and spent the past four seasons in Graz. He has signed a short-term contract with the Black Wings until the November international break.

Villach seeks third consecutive win
EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV is on the rise: After victories against Graz (4–3) and Linz (8–3), the Eagles sit fifth with ten points. On Friday, they face Pioneers Vorarlberg, who have only one win this season but have recently shown improvement: a 4–2 victory over Vienna was followed by a 1–4 defeat to Salzburg, with the game close until the 44th minute. Last season, Villach won all four meetings against the Pioneers.

Fehérvár challenges Pustertal
The fifth Friday game features Hydro Fehérvár AV19 against HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. Bruneck sits sixth with nine points, while the Hungarians are ninth with seven. Fehérvár recently suffered two defeats: a heavy 4–9 loss in Graz and a narrow 2–3 shootout defeat against leaders Ljubljana, leading 2–1 until five minutes before the end. Pustertal lost 2–3 to FTC-Telekom after surrendering a 2–1 lead in the final minutes, but earlier scored a surprising 2–1 home win against reigning champions Salzburg. Pustertal remain unbeaten on the road this season, while Fehérvár has won all home games. The last direct meeting on January 12 saw Pustertal win convincingly 5–0. Last season, the overall head-to-head was 2–2.

7th round concludes on Saturday
Saturday features the sixth match of the 7th round: HC TIWAG Innsbruck vs. Moser Medical Graz99ers. For Innsbruck, it is their only game of the week; Graz will play in Vorarlberg the following day. The Styrians are fourth with ten points, Innsbruck last with three. The Tirolers only won their season opener against the Pioneers. Graz recently suffered a narrow 3–4 home defeat to Villach – their first loss in regulation this season. Last season, Graz won all four encounters against Innsbruck.

Vienna and Pustertal open 8th round
Also on Saturday, the 8th round begins with Vienna Capitals hosting HC Falkensteiner Pustertal. It is the second match within 24 hours for both teams. The matchup has not yet occurred this season; last season, Vienna won three of the four meetings.
