Hydro Fehérvár AV19 retook the lead in the standings with a 4:1 victory in Innsbruck.
Fehervar back at the top of the table
On Friday, there was another change at the top of the table in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. HK SZ Olimpija was defeated by Steinbach Black Wings Linz with 3:4 after overtime. For the Upper Austrians, where Brian Lebler scored with a wrist shot after only eight seconds in overtime, it was the second win of the season. The beneficiary of Ljubljana's defeat was Hydro Fehervar AV19, who won 4:1 in Innsbruck to regain the league lead. Two quick goals at the beginning of the middle period provided the preliminary decision in favor of the guests.
Dornbirn and Salzburg make up ground
First chaser of the top duo are the Dornbirn Bulldogs, who won all three periods in Bolzano and in the end left the ice with a 5:2 victory. While the team from Vorarlberg celebrated their third win in a row, the runner-up slipped down to ninth place due to their third league defeat in a row. EC Red Bull Salzburg, on the other hand, took a step forward. Head coach Matt McIlvane's team, however, gave away a 4:1 lead in the third period in their visit to Graz and finally prevailed in shootout thanks to TJ Brennen's hat trick. The Salzburgers are now in fourth place.
HC Orli Znojmo (5th place) and EC-KAC (6th) lost at home. The Czechs took a quick lead against EC GRAND Immo VSV, but the Blue-Whites turned the game in their favor in the middle period. With a strong final period Villach got the first away win this season while it was Znojmo's first home defeat at the same time. The KAC also took a quick lead against the iClinic Bratislava Capitals, and after eight minutes Manuel Geier even made it 2:0 with his first goal of the season. But the Slovaks equalized before the end of the first period. After no further goals were scored, the Caps took the victory in the shootout.
For the spusu Vienna Capitals, there was reason to cheer again after three recent defeats. The Viennese kept the upper hand in an exciting game against HC Pustertal in overtime. Charlie Dodero secured the third win of the season for the home side in the 62nd minute.
