In the opening period it was all Cortina but EHC goalie Mikko Rämö made some great saves to avoid an early deficit. It took the Italians 19 minutes until Diego Iori made the breakthrough on power play. Trailing by one after 20 minutes, Lustenau came out hard for the middle frame. Now the lions pressed for an equalizer and when Cortina received a minor penalty, it was Yan Stastny who tied the game. At the halfway point of the game the guests retook the lead as Riley Brace took advantage of a mistake in the Lustenau defense. Lustenau was not shocked and Stastny made it 2:2 what also was the score after 40 minutes. Early in the third Lustenau went ahead for the first time this evening with Stastny celebrating his hat trick off an assist by Philipp Koczera and Philipp Putnik. Only 40 seconds later Francesco De Biasio bounced back for Cortina and the new score was 3:3. The game was on a knife edge now with both teams having good chances. Philipp Winzig used one of them for another Lustenau lead and when Stastny added his fourth the game was decided.
