KAC and Capitals impress
Both the EC-KAC and the spusu Vienna Capitals recorded clear victories against DEL teams. Both teams were in action at the Heidi Horten-Arena in Klagenfurt. The KAC had to do without ten national team players in their last test match before the CHL opener, but still managed a clear 4:1 win against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg. After a goalless first period, Nick Petersen put the KAC ahead (29.) before Wolfsburg equalized in the middle period. However, the home side prevailed with three goals in the final period. Matt Fraser scored twice (41., 58.) and Thomas Hundertpfund (52.) also got on the scoresheet. The Vienna Capitals celebrated an equally commanding success against the Schwenninger Wild Wings. VIC won 5:2. Patrick Antal also scored in Vienna's second preparation game to put the Caps ahead after four minutes. Christof Kromp (35.), Jason Willms (38.) and Peter Krieger (40.) extended the lead in the middle period. Niki Hartl scored the Capitals' fifth goal (42.).

Bolzano and Asiago start preseason with a win
In “Il Derby dei Campioni”, HCB Südtirol Alperia celebrated an unchallenged 7:1 victory against Alps Hockey League runner-up Cortina. It was the first test match for the “Foxes”, which took place in Corvara, where Bolzano is currently on a training camp. Another Italian ICE team, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, kicked off the preseason on Saturday evening. The team from Veneto faced Deggendorfer SC in the first game of the Riwega Cup in Neumarkt and won with 3:1.

Defeats for Graz and Innsbruck
The Moser Medical Graz99ers and HC TIWAG Innsbruck were unable to celebrate any victories on Saturday. Graz narrowly lost 5:6 to Adler Mannheim in a high-scoring game, while the 99ers were without seven players for the encounter in Kitzbühel. New signing Casey Bailey was the only player from Styria to score twice. Innsbruck lost to EHC Olten in the Vinschgau Cup powered by Audi in Latsch, South Tyrol with 2:6. In the second game on Sunday, the HCI will face the Iserlohn Roosters from the DEL.
