Thursday night the EC Bregenzerwald and the VEU Feldkirch will meet for the fourth time in the running Alps Hockey League season, with the VEU playing for the third spot in standings, while the other five parings will be played for the first time 20-21.

After the strong comeback victory on Tuesday (6:4 vs. EC-KAC II), HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice takes on the leader of the Alps Hockey League at home, plays its first game of the season against HC Pustertal Wölfe. The leader has been presenting itself in excellent form for weeks: it has won ten of the last eleven games, the only defeat dates back to December 26th (3:4 SO @RIT). In Jesenice, the Wolves, who have the strongest penalty killing in the league (90.9%), have always scored in the last six games, winning four times. The Slovenians, who have only played nine games in the home-and-away round, are ninth in the table, just six points behind third-placed Lustenau.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors scored for the first time in their second game after the break on Tuesday, losing to VEU Feldkirch 3:4 after overtime. Against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it the "young bulls" want to prolong their impressive home series. They have won all nine home games after regulation - conceding only 14 goals in total. Against Val Gardena, they have won the last five home games and the last five encounters too. The South Tyroleans, ranked twelfth, have won only three of their last ten games, but are especially strong on the power play (24.4% | #3).

Already for the third time this season EC Bregenzerwald and VEU Feldkirch face each other. After VEU clearly dominated the first duel with 8:1, the last two confrontations were won by the "Wälder", which won two games in a row against their local rivals for the first time in the Alps Hockey League. Both teams are within striking distance of the top-4 in the standings: Feldkirch is fifth with 31 points, ECB is eighth with 28 points. VEU has won four of its last five games, the home-strong "Wälder" - they are undefeated for seven home games - got only two wins in the comparison period. Sven Grasböck and Laurin Müller are still missing at VEU due to injury.

For the Rittner Buam it is about the connection to the top teams in standings. As tenth, the former Alps Hockey League champion is four points behind the ninth, and only ten points behind the third. Especially at home, the "Buam", which have not yet been completely convincing when playing shorthanded (71.4% | #16), have recently performed well with four wins from five games, and in home games against EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel they are still unbeaten at all (5 wins). The Tyroleans, who are in 14th place, have picked up just one point in their last nine games and are fighting for a place in the pre-playoffs. Ritten is without long-term injured Kevin Fink and MacGregor Sharp this week.

S.G. Cortina Hafro, still unbeaten in 2021, welcomes EC-KAC II on Thursday. Cortina has conceded just one goal in its last three games - and is seventh in standings, four points behind third-placed Lustenau. At home, the Italians have shown exclusively good performances so far, losing only one game after regulation. They have not lost one single home game against Klagenfurt. EC-KAC II has lost all of its last seven road games and is currently in 14th place.
