After playing for Dinamo Rīga (KHL), Stjernen Hockey (NOR), IK Oskarshamn (SHL), JYP (Liiga) and Red Bull München (DEL) in the last two seasons, defender Andrew O`Brien moves to Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Interview with Andrew O`Brien:

About how the signing came about:

"After I got my Hungarian citizenship and EU passport a few years ago, I knew right away that I would find it pretty cool to play in Hungary. I've been talking about it with my agent for the past few years, and when the opportunity finally came up, we jumped at it, and everything just fell into place. I've spoken to Viktor a few times in the last few weeks. You can see that the team has improved every year. Last year the team reached the finals and lost, so we hope things will go better next season."

About win2day ICE Hockey League and Fehérvár AV19:

"I have quite a few friends and old teammates in the ICE who all rave about this league. I was already able to play a CHL game with EHC Red Bull Munich. I can now continue this great experience with Fehérvár. I have played in many teams and in different leagues during my career, so I want to help the already great group of players with my experience.

On his playing style:

"I don't shy away from the physical side of the game. But for my size, I also pride myself on my skating. I want to contribute in any way I can and be a consistent player on defense."

On his Hungarian passport:

"My grandparents were born and raised in Hungary. A few years ago I was able to secure both Hungarian citizenship and my EU passport. I don't speak Hungarian, but I'm definitely willing to learn it. My mother speaks it, so I've heard a few words over the years. Of course, it's special for me to play for a Hungarian team. My mother is proud of her roots, so it's very special for her. She will definitely visit us a lot."
