The voting members of the win2day ICE Hockey League approved the admission of FTC-Telecom Budapest with a two-thirds majority. The application submitted by the newly founded club Hockey Club Asiago 1935 did not achieve the required support. FTC-Telecom Budapest will join the league as the 13th team for the 2025/26 season – subject to the fulfillment of all obligations by May 2, 2025 – under a two-year probationary period.

The international composition of the win2day ICE Hockey League for the upcoming season will be as follows: Austria (8), Italy (2), Hungary (2), Slovenia (1).

Dr. Alexander Gruber, President of the win2day ICE Hockey League:
“Budapest is an exciting market with great potential, and we are pleased to see it represented for the first time on the map of the win2day ICE Hockey League. The Hungarian derby will be a sporting and emotional highlight. While Asiago has not yet made it into the league, the quality of both applications demonstrates how attractive our league has become for new locations.”

Zoltán Nyíri, Executive Vice President of FTC-Telecom Budapest:
“The deliberate planning and professional efforts of recent years have paid off. This is a major step forward for our professional men’s team, and indeed for Hungarian ice hockey as a whole. This marks a new level for our coaches, our players – and I would say, for our spectators as well. That’s why I’m asking our fans to continue supporting the team with the same incredible energy, but also with patience. Together, we can achieve great things in this league!”

Gábor Hudák, Sporting Director of FTC-Telecom Budapest’s Ice Hockey Division:
"The win2day ICE Hockey League is a competition of outstanding sporting quality and represents a tremendous development opportunity for our team. This step will benefit the entire Hungarian ice hockey community by increasing international visibility. Our youth development will also gain new momentum, as Hydro Fehérvár AV19 will no longer be the only pathway for young players into an ICE team. I’m confident that we will do everything in our power to meet the league’s high sporting standards, establish ourselves quickly – both on and off the ice – and represent Ferencváros with pride."
