On Friday, three more teams announced further roster updates, as the EC Red Bull Salzburg tabbed former NHL defender Taylor Chorney for the upcoming bet-at-home ICE Hockey League campaign, Linz brought in goalie Luka Gracnar and Niklas Bretschneider, while the EC VSV presented two contract extensions. Taylor Chorney strengthens Salzburg’s defensive squad
The EC Red Bull Salzburg has strengthened its defensive squad with Taylor Chorney. The 33-year-old played with HC Lugano for the last two seasons and before that he had 178 appearances in the NHL.

From 2008 to 2018, the defender played five NHL clubs, for the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals and the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also played for their farm teams in the American Hockey League, where he showed up in 425 games. He made his European debut in the Swiss NLA at HC Lugano, scoring 38 points in the past two seasons. Chorney won his first title with the USA U18 national team at the World Championship in České Budějovice and Plzeň (CZE, 2004/05), and a year later he became NCAA champion with the University of North Dakota.


Former Salzburg goalie Gracnar joins Linz

The Black Wings Linz have strengthened their roster for the upcoming season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League with Luka Gracnar and Niklas Bretschneider. While the Slovenian national team goalie played at Salzburg and Innsbruck, showing up in a total of 240 league games and winning the title three times, the 20-year-old Austrian forward heads into his first professional campaign with the Upper Austrians. Last season, the 20-year-old scored 64 points (18 goals) in 49 games in the NCDC (National Collegiate Development Conference).

Lanzinger and Urbanek remain in Villach
The two Austrians Benjamin Lanzinger and Martin Urbanek have joined the professional squad of the EC VSV for the upcoming bet-at-home ICE Hockey League season, both talents have already gained experience on senior level. Lanzinger already played 86 games for VSV. The winger was also a member of Austria's U20 squad, which last year managed to advance to the top division. The 18-year-old defender Urbanek played 21 games on senior level with the “eagles”. He was part of the Austrian U-20 national team too.
