Glen Hanlon is the new head coach of HC Tesla Orli Znojmo. The former head coach of the Washington Capitals in the NHL was most recently with the Krefeld Pinguine in the DEL. In addition, the 64-years-old was head coach of Belarus, Slovakia and Switzerland at eight World Championships. The Canadian-born will be assisted by Jiri Beroun and Tomas Jakes.

Glen Hanlon was a former NHL goalie for the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. Subsequently, the now 64-year-old was also head coach in the best league in the world. Between 2005 and 2008, Hanlon coached the Washington Capitals. In Europe, the native Canadian was head coach of Jokerit in Finland, Dynamo Minsk in Belarus, DVTK Jegesmedvék in Hungary and the Krefeld Pinguine in Germany. He has also been head coach of Belarus, Slovakia and Switzerland at eight world championships.

"Glen is a big hockey personality and he had offers from more teams, not just us. He was a good friend of Miro Frycer and that was maybe part of the decision to come here and join us. He already has a pretty good idea about the club. We look forward to our cooperation as we felt we needed and English-speaking coach and a well respected personality to strengthen our team," states club president Pavel Ohera.
