EC Red Bull Salzburg started the Red Bulls Salute in Garmisch Partenkirchen with a 3:2-overtime-win over HC Sparta Praha (CZE). Each club potted two goals in period 2, but could not score in period 1 and 3. So, the game went into overtime, where John Hughes netted the Game Winner for the Austrian Champion from a sharp angel. The Mozart Citizens will face Swiss NLA-club SC Bern in the finals on Saturday. The Swiss club has beaten EHC Red Bull München 4:1.
99ers lost high scoring game
Moser Medical Graz99ers have been defeated in their second pre season game as well. The Styrians lost to HC Kosice (SVK) in a high scoring game 4:6. The Slovaks netted an early goal, but the Austrians responded quickly and earned a 3:1-lead thanks goals from Kirchschläger (5.), Hamilton (5.) and Oleksuk (7.) after 20 minutes. The Styrians took some penalties and this was punished by HC Kosice. The Slovaks turned the game with five straight goals – 6:3. The Mur Citizens did not give up and in minute 60, Hamilton added the 4:6 for the final score.
KAC defeated by Slovakian Champion
EC-KAC lost against Slovakian Champion HC Banska Bystrica 2:7. The Slovaks scored an early lead, but Klagenfurt responded quickly in a Power Play. The game was open for the first 25 minutes. Then, Tamasi (27.) and Faille (28.) gave HC Banska Bystrica a 4:1-lead by scoring two goals within just 54 seconds. In the end Klagenfurt lost to the Slovakian Champion 2:7.
Black Wings lost goal festival after overtime
EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz has lost a goal festival against Ceske Budejovice on the road 5:6. The scoring started early in period 2, when the Czechs took advantage from a Power Play. The Upper Austrians stayed unimpressed and responded with three consecutive goals potted by the imports Rick Schofield (22.) and Corey Locke (24., 28.). Linz took penalties in the upcoming minutes and this was punished by the Czechs: With two goals on Power Play, one shorthander and onother goal 5-on-5, Ceske Budejovice turned the game around and earned a 5:3-lead in the middle of the third period. The Black Wings did not give up and have equalized with two goals from Dan DaSilva and new arrival Kevin Kapstadt - 5:5. In the overtime Ceske Budejovice had the better end.
Fehervar AV19 wins in Zilina
Fehervar AV19 won their second exhibition game in the pre-season vs. MsHK Zilina (SVK). The Hungarians have never lost against the Slovak Tipsort Liga team and continued their winning streak against them. The Hungarians scored early in the first period, youngster Timotej Sille put his team in the lead, but the home team answered fast, Huda scored. In the remaining time in the first period, Fehervar was more aggressive in front of the net, yet there were no more goals. Daniel Kornakker, apart from a few minutes two years ago in Linz, played his first full game as member of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga-team that missed some of its key players (Koger, Hari, Sarauer, Meland, Kuralt) due to minor injuries and illness. Zilina started the second period better and the game became more physical, both the Slovakians and the Hungarians missed their opportunities in the powerplay. 5 minutes left in the period Phillips scored his first goal in the league then Csanad Erdely used a mistake of the home team and doubled the lead. Yet, Zilina had an answer again, Bagin cut the difference to one goal three minutes before the buzzer. The guests pushed harder at the beginning of period 3 and it resulted in another goal, this time Luttinen put the puck in the net. In the middle of the period, Fehervar scored on the powerplay, it was Phillips again. Zilina modified the result to 3:5 at the end of the game. The Hungarians travel to Germany next weekend to participate in the Müller’s Fan Shop Cup in Dresden.
VSV lost after Shoot Out
EC Panaceo VSV played a good first test match against EC Bad Nauheim (DEL/2) and took the lead twice in period 2 thanks goals from new arrival Jason DeSantis and Youngster Christof Kromp. Each time the Germans responded quickly. In period 3 the DEL/2-club got the lead for the first time. Villach stayed unimpressed as well and equalized in a Power Play just moments later. The game was decided in a Shoot Out, where the Germans had the better end.
Foxes failed to score
Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia lost against DEL-club Augsburg Panthers at the Dolomiten Cup in Neumarkt with 0:3. The Foxes could not beat goalie Markus Keller, while the Italians allowed three goals.
Bulldogs netted two on Power Play
Dornbirn Bulldogs went to Lugano playing their second friendly game 2018. The Swiss club earned a 2:0-lead in the first period. After the re-start, the West-Austrians bounced back, scoring the 1:2 by Radek Cip on a Power Play (22.). The Bulldogs got an extra boost, but the next two goals were again potted by the Swiss team – 4:1. Dornbirn did not give up and answered with the 4:2 in a Power Play: Michael Parks (54.) scored with a big shot. The Austrians tried to score again, but without success.

EC-KAC (vs. HC Kosice), EC Red Bull Salzburg (vs. SC Bern) and Moser Medical Graz99ers (vs. HKM Zvolen) will play friendly games on the road on Saturday.
