It was a high paced game in the first period, with Graz taking the lead twice. Their first scorer Travis Oleksuk could only hit the ice for about four minutes due to a cold. The EC-KAC tied it up twice, as Andrew Kozek (4.) scored after a turnover of Johansson and Adam Comrie lit the lamp. With his first goal for the “Rotjacken” Rok Tičar gave the hosts a 3:2 advantage after the first. The second frame became more intense, with Graz tying the game at three, as Ken Ograjensek scored after a forecheck and KAC's defensiv squad looking disordered. With a lack of efficiency by Klagenfurt and some huge saves of Graz’ goalie Cristopher Nihlstorp the game remained goalless until the end, despite a four-minute powerplay occasion of KAC about seven minutes left in the third. In the extra session both teams had some proper chances. Finally, Dominik Grafenthin converted a rebound with 37 second left to secure Graz the extra point.
