Harvey’s shutout gives Bolzano ninth straight home win

HCB Südtirol Alperia won also its ninth home game in the current win2day ICE Hockey League season. With its 1-0 shutout victory over its first chaser EC Red Bull Salzburg, the two-time league champion from Bolzano has extended its lead in the standings again. Meanwhile, third-placed Steinbach Black Wings Linz celebrated a 4-2 comeback win in Graz, while both Carinthian clubs celebrated clear victories in front of their home crowds. League newcomers Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey claimed their third success in a row at home.

HCB Südtirol Alperia remains unbeaten at Sparkasse Arena this season, as the leader from Bolzano won the duel with its first chaser EC Red Bull Salzburg 1-0. Goalie Sam Harvey made it possible for the "Foxes" with 32 saves - and his first shutout for the South Tyroleans – to win also in the second season duel with the seven-time league champions. The game wnner was scored by Christian Thomas (29.), firing it home from the high slot. He scored for the eleventh time this season. For the reigning champions from Austria it was the first defeat after six wins in a row before. Salzburg is now tied for second with Linz and Innsbruck, six points behind.

Linz turns 0-2 deficit
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz pulled off a comeback win at the Moser Medical Graz99ers, prevailing 4:2. For the first time this season, the Upper Austrians turned a two-goal deficit into a win. Graz, which had to substitute a total of seven regulars, let a 2-0 advantage slip away for the second time this season. Linz turned things around with three goals in the final period: first Jakob Mitsch (47.) equalized, before Brian Lebler (54.), he scored his 10th goal of the season, provided the decider and Emilio Romig (60./EN) put the lid on it.

Clear home wins for Carinthian teams
With EC-KAC and EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV both Carinthian clubs celebrated clear home victories in the 18th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Sunday. The "Rotjacken" prevailed against the spusu Vienna Capitals with 5-2, recorded their first victory after regulation in the new Heidi Horten Arena. A dominant first period with goals from Nick Petersen (5.), Steven Strong (7.) and the first ever from young talent Luka Gomboc (18./PP1) paved the way for the Austrian record champions to their first success after three losses in a row recently. Vienna thus also lost the second duel of the season with Klagenfurt and remained without points in two consecutive matches for the first time since the start of the season. As a result, Vienna is already eight points behind fourth-placed Innsbruck.


EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV is tied for sixth place with the “Capitals”. The "Adler" won clearly at home against HK SZ Olimpija with 6:2. After a goalless opening frame, Villach gained a 3-1 advantage in the second period - and answered an early goal by the "Dragons" at the beginning of the last period with three more goals within six minutes. Anthony Luciani recorded his first brace for the Carinthians. Defender Nicolas Rivett-Mattinen had a 3-point night (1G|2A).

Asiago wins third consecutive home game
League newcomer Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey also finished its third home game in a row without defeat after a 3-2 win over HC Pustertal. Asiago's first line was mainly responsible for the victory: Allan Mcshane (6.), Giordano Finoro (34.) and again Mcshane (35./SH1) provided the comfortable lead in the meantime, which the Italians also skillfully carried over the time. Mcshane scored for the third time in a row and recorded his first multiple-goal game for Asiago. For the recently strong Wolves, it was the first defeat after three consecutive victories.
