Highlanders win dramatic top game in South Tyrol

Four games were scheduled in the European Women's Hockey League on Saturday. In the top match, the KSV Highlanders won 4:3 in a high-class game at EVB Eagles South Tyrol. The Styrians scored the game-winner with a penalty shot just 17 seconds before the end. MAC Budapest celebrated a clear 6:0 home win against the Lakers Kärnten, the Sabres St. Pölten in turn won 5:0 against the second team from Budapest, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia, and Tauron Metropolia Silesia won 6:2 against the EC Graz Huskies.

The KSV Highlanders' success at EVB Eagles South Tyrol meant that the Styrians overtook the South Tyroleans in the table. In fourth place in the table, they now have a two-point lead over the team from Bolzano, although they have already played four more games. The Highlanders were leading 1:0, 2:1 and 3:2 in a dramatic game. They conceded a 3:3 equalizer with just under three minutes remaining and, just when everything was pointing to overtime, the visitors were awarded a penalty shot with 17 seconds left, which Nikola Rumanova converted. It was the center's second goal of the game.

MAC gives Lakers no chance
MAC Budapest celebrated a clear 6:0 home win against the Lakers Kärnten. The sixth-placed team was already 3:0 up after the first period, but the Lakers, who are in seventh place in the table behind MAC but already twelve points behind the Hungarians, conceded two more goals in the second. Budapest, for whom six different players scored, added another goal in the final period. Goalkeeper Bianka Bogati saved all 19 shots and celebrated her second shutout.

Clear away win for St. Pölten
The Sabres St. Pölten were also in action in Budapest, but celebrated a clear 5:0 victory against Budapest Jegkorong Akademia. It was the third-placed team's eleventh win in their 15th game of the season. Budapest still have two wins from nine games and are in tenth place. Hannah Tait was the only player to score twice, while SAB goalkeeper Davina Falmbigl celebrated her first shutout in her fourth appearance of the season.

Silesia defeats Graz
Tauron Metropolia Silesia celebrated a clear 6:2 victory against the EC Graz Huskies. The game was still tied at 2:2 with 15 minutes remaining before the Polish team pulled away to a 6:2 victory thanks to a hat-trick from Karolina Pozniewska and a goal from Malgorzata Zakrzewska. Silesia overtook Graz in the table. Although both teams have eight points, Silesia are in eighth place due to their better goal difference, followed by Huskies on ninth place.
