Hydro Fehérvar AV19 was clearly the better team from the beginning. The first big chance to take the lead, however, had Salzburg, in the power play. After the Red Bulls left the powerplay unused, the the hosts were clearly the better team and in the fifth minute they scored twice. First Istvan Bartalis scored to make it 1:0, before just 46 seconds later Tim Campbell shot the 2:0. Again just six minutes later, Daniel Szabo made it 3:0, with Alexander Petan scoring the fourth goal in the first 14 minutes of play.

The Red Bulls started the second period with a new goalkeeper. Jean Philippe Lamoureux, who could only save 60% of all shots, stayed in the dressing room. Jesper Eliasson came into the game. It was the fourth game of the season for the 20-year-old Swede. However, on the ice everything was the same. The home side continued to set the tone. Of 20 shots on goal in the middle period, two found their way into the net. In the 37th minute, Donat Szita made it 5:0, and just 50 seconds later, Alexander Petan scored a brace. It was the first brace of the season for the 28-year-old Italian-Canadian.

At the beginning of the final period, Fehérvár's second-best scorer, János Hári, also scored for the first time this evening.
