HK SZ Olimpija makes it eleven in a row + Zell am See and Ritten announced new players

In Wednesdays lone Alps Hockey League game, the HK SZ Olimpija made it eleven in a row with a 7:3 home win against HC Fassa Falcons. While the Slovenian side takes over second spot in standings, the Italians remain last. Further, the EK Die Zeller Eisbären and the Rittner Buam each announced the signing of new defenders.

The HK SZ Olimpija got its eleventh consecutive win, after beating bottom-placed HC Fassa Falcons. It took the home team about 5,5 minutes to take the lead on the first powerplay occasion thanks to Saso Rajsar. Not even 1,5 minutes later Luka Ulamec doubled the lead. Despite having only five shots on goal in the first, Fassa’s Karl Östman halved the deficit in the 13th minute. At the beginning of the second the hosts benefited on powerplays twice. Miha Zajc and Ales Music were responsible for the 4:1 lead at halfway through the second. Again, Fassa pulled one back thanks to Martin Castlunger. But the third frame opened like the second: Ljubljana added two more goals out of man advantages and made the game safe on an early stage. After Kristjan Cepon potted one more for the hosts, Marco Marzolini rounded off the score.

Zell am See and Ritten reinforced their roster

After David Franz came back from EHC Lustenau a few days ago, the EK Die Zeller Eisbären again strengthened the roster. The Austrian side added Mans Hansson. The 20-year old Swedish defender started the season with Kristianstads IK (SWE) having 9 points (2G|7A) out of 18 games. The polar bears are Hansson’s first club outside of Sweden. 

Further, the Rittner Buam signed Patrik Luza replacing Aleksandrs Jerofejevs, who suffered an injury about three weeks ago while the game against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. Luza started the season with AZ Havirov in the Czechs second division and later moved to HK Dukla Trencin (SVK). He showed up 30 times for the Slovakian side collecting 6 points (1G|5 AS). In the previous seasons amongst others he played for HC Slovan Bratislava in the KHL and appeared twice in Slovakian national team.
