Black Wings were on fire in Quarterfinal 3 against the Bears from Zagreb
EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz were the chiefs on the ice in Quarterfinal number 3 from the beginning: Dan DaSilva with a rebound-goal (2.) and Mario Altmann (6.) gave the Upper Austrians an early 2:0-lead. The Steel Citizens continued to apply pressure on the opposing team. The next goal was just a question of time: Finally, Brian Lebler netted the 3:0 with a placed shot in minute 17. Back-up goalie Vilim Rosandic filled in for Kevin Carr. The Bears responded in minute 20: Tyler Morley potted a goal from a short distance after a shot from Tomas Kudelka. But the Austrians dominated the game after the re-start as well: Altmann scored his 2nd from the blue line in minute 26 (4:1). Then it was getting tuff: Andreas Kristler with a deflection (28.), DaSilva (33./sh) from a short distance, Rick Schofield with a placed shot (33.) and Joel Broda’s Powerplay goal from a sharp angel (34.) gave their team a 8:1-lead after 34 minutes. There was not much going on in the last period. Tero Koskiranta netted the 2:8 for the guests in minute 54. The Austrians celebrated their first Playoff win 2018, but Zagreb is still leading in the best of seven series 2:1.

Capitals celebrated second consecutive Overtime-win against Innsbruck
Vienna Capitals scored the lead from the first good attempt of the game: Captain Andreas Nödl potted the 1:0 from the slot after a perfect pass from Tyler Cuma (13.). Just moments later, the game had to be stopped for 15 minutes. Phil Lakos checked Andrew Yogan against the boards and the glass got broken. After the re-start Yogan surprisingly scored from a solo – 1:1 (19.). The goal gave the Sharks a boost: Andrew Clark turned the game after another solo (23.). The game became more chippy and the Caps seemed shocked. But the Champion found a way to respond: Kyle Klubertanz‘ shorthanded goal after a powerful attack tied the game at 2:2. The Tyroleans played well defensively in period 3 and waited for their chances. Wahl‘s Power Play goal gave Innsbruck a 3:2-lead in Vienna (51.). The Champion responded quickly: Ryan McKiernan tied the game at 3:3 with a skilled goal just 51 seconds later. The Capitals were applying pressure on the opposing team in the final minutes, but goalie Patrik Nechvatal did not allow a fourth goal. The game went into an Overtime, in which Nödl netted the Game Winner for Vienna in minute 64. The Caps are leading in the best-of-seven-series 3:0.

The Vorarlberger responded in minute 15: Pance and Häusle turned the game within 15 seconds. The Mozart Citizens were shocked, while the Bulldogs got a boost. The guests took the momentum into the second period, but Timmins, Connelly (31.) and Caruso (34.) missed the best chances.
