HC Fassa Falcons has earned their first season-win in the Alps Hockey League on Wednesday. Besides HK SZ Olimpija stayed unbeaten at home.

26.09.2018: HK SZ Olimpija – EK Die Zeller Eisbären 2:1 (1:0,1:1,0:0)
HK SZ Olimpija and EK Die Zeller Eisbären had a game on eye-level in the first 40 minutes (20:20-shots). The game started with a quick goal scored by Gregor Koblar, who beat his former team-mate Dominik Frank with a well placed shot after just 265 seconds. Seconds later, the Austrians had a two man advantage for 1:37, but they could not threaten. Early in period 2, Ales Kranjc added the 2:0 in a Power Play with one of his trademark blueliner bombs (25.). On the other side, goalie Tilen Spreitzer stopped several shots from the Polar Bears. But, the Austrians did not give up and were finally rewarded with their first goal by Paul Koudelka (33.), who could score from a breakaway. In the third period, the Slovenes pressured for their third goal (14:5-shots), but the score did not change. The green dragons earned their second win in their second home-game.

The Fassa Falcons conquered the first points of the season at the end of a very hard-fought game ended only to the shutout. The first penalties of the match changed the score. Marco Marzolini opened the scoring but the Austrian team answered with Aleksi Järvinen. Both goals were made in powerplay. Then the Tigers advanced in the score. Henrik Neubauer surprised Gianni Scola and then at the end of the time the visitors scored 3: 1 with a counterattack by Daniel Ban (shorthanded). In the second half Fassa reacted as they put pressure on ECB. Martin Gran realized after a puck recovered by Diego Iori. Then in the third time the game was very intense. The Falcons found the draw with a precise shot by Martin Castlunger after many efforts. During the overtime the goalkeepers were decisive more than once, specially Thomas Stroj. Anton Östman realized the only penalty shot as the Falcons won 4:3.
